If I am not mistaken, didn't Head Coach John Gruden get traded from the Raiders to Bucs in the NFL? Don't know if it was brought up, but worth mentioning on this topic.

Ozzie Guillen Traded?

Somebody help me out here. Why aren't the Marlins demanding that the White Sox pay part of his salary?Does Florida really think he is an asset?
I really doubt that teams were lining up to bring him in for an interview. Ozzie burned every last bridge this past month with his constant talk about his salary and length of his contract.
No way he was coming back to the Sox. No way he was some teams 1st or 2nd choice to be their manager.

I'm not sure the Marlins will be the contenders he wants them to be, but I think he'll do about as good a job as anyone.
Ozzie must have Scott Boros for his agent. He got the Marlins to bid against themselves.

Starting to see why the Marlins and owner Jeffrey Loria pursued a person like Guillen. An owner with a questionable background, one who has screwed over others, who has been called the worst owner in baseball. The same guy who fired one of the classiest and well respected guys in baseball, Joe Girardi, when Joe told to stop acting like a child and grow up.The same guy who blew up and destroyed the Montreal Expos and forced the move out "in the best interests of baseball."
Loria wants a manager who is like him. Controversial, arrogant, mouthy, opinionated, etc. Here is what he said about Ozzie yesterday,
"I couldn't care less about feathers," Loria said. "I don't have any feathers. And I don't care about him ruffling anybody. Ozzie has his opinions, and he's entitled to them. You know that going in. But Ozzie comes with a great pedigree."............ So please feel free to continue to make terrible baseball decisions, bring in terrible coaches to help you, destroy team unity, rip your players daily in the media, make racial comments, bash America, make everyone aware of your political thoughts, and continue to worship Hugo Chavez.
A lot of changes coming to South Florida along with the changes they are already going through. I have read that he is looking to change the make up of the whole team and "corner" the market on immigrants and latin players. Keep over spending for players (like you did for Guillen), keep unloading your salaries when you aren't in the playoff hunt, and complain to MLB about a salary cap when you can't figure out why the community won't support you. Watch out Bud Selig.... major problems coming your way.

Probably a baseball manager is the least important coach/manager in all of sports. A manager makes little difference in winning games, except, they need to avoid making too many moves that help lose games occasionally. I believe Ozzie lost as many games as he helped win with his predictable righty/lefty moves, and his assigning certain pitchers to pitch the 7th, 8th, and 9th innings, no matter how well the previous pitcher was doing.
But I am not saying that Ozzie didn't help the White Sox win the 2005 World Series. For his part, as a lifelong Sox fan, I am grateful, but I do think they might have won a lot more games and maybe more playoff series under different management. It was definitely time to see Ozzie go, and there are few fans who will miss him. His act will get old quickly if the Marlins don't win many games, and I do not think they will. Good luck to Loria and the Marlins fans.

I think this is true. That 2005 Sox team was already good so he couldn't rip guys like he he does now. It was Ozzie's 2nd year as a manager but he figured out that he loved the spotlight. He was just learning to run his mouth but he didn't get into politics or race like he does now. It wasn't a tired act yet because he won and the media loved him. They said he was "colorful." Plus he didn't fight with the GM every other week.
Now, players, fans around the country, and the public in general have had a chance to see who he really is. It could get ugly quick there if they start losing. You can forget about team chemistry.

Bump......
I am laughing my a$$ off at Ozzie right now. What a clown. It took him all of 4 games in Miami before he got the entire community of South Florida to hate him and want him fired.
Find all the latest MLB news, live coverage, videos, highlights, stats, predictions, and results right here on NBC Sports.
For anyone to say that Castro is a great man and that he loves and respects him is just insane. AND....to say it when you are the manager of a team in the middle of thousands of Cuban people who have literally jumped in the ocean to escape Castro's iron fist and punishment just shows you how dumb Ozzie really is.
When will people realize that he says what he means? He does not care if he offends people with his comments. He has lived and worked in the United States for over 31 years including living in South Florida (with Cuban refugees) for the past 12 Winters. I will never accept the language barrier excuse from him (if he attempts to use it here). How many times in Chicago did he say something ignorant and told the media, "I don't care what people think, fire me if you don't like it."
The Marlins have just suspended him 5 games. What a joke! Anybody think that if a white or even black manager were to say the same thing that they would still be the manager today?

Actually, Ozzie was just doing what Ozzie always does- speaking "from the hip" and not considering the consequences or who he offends. He has stated in the past that he admires Fidel Castro (he said essentially the same thing in 2008 in an interview with Rick Telander)
And Ozzie has said many times that he admires Venezuelan Marxist dictator Hugo Chavez, which offends the sensibilities of most freedom-loving Americans. But when he said those things in a more culturally diverse city like Chicago, most people didn't care as long as he was winning.
His big blunder was saying it in Miami just when the Marlins franchise opens it's new stadium in downtown Miami in the heart of Little Havana, and invests millions into a new manager and high priced roster in an attempt to draw the Cuban-American people to the ball park. I am sure he knew how much those people hate Castro, who has ruined the lives of so many Cuban families? Most of those families have relatives who died at the hands of Castro's thugs or in the attempt to overthrow him and take their homeland back. But that is what you get with Ozzie.
This suspension by the Marlins is major damage control. If the team can win enough games, probably most fans will forget this, but some won't.

Ozzie Guillen was fired today after just 1 year as the manager of the Miami Marlins. He signed a 4 year contract last year.-

The Miami Marlins hired Mike Redmond as their new manager to replace Ozzie Guillen-
Mike Redmond was a backup catcher most of his career for the Marlins, Twins, and Indians. But he is best remembered for his gimmick of taking batting practice in the nude to try to break a Marlins losing streak in 2003. Whether that had any effect or not, the Marlins started winning and went on to win the World Series that year. He is just 41 years old, and has only 2 years experience as a manager at the Class A level, where he was 155-115
