  • Cardinals eliminated from Division race - Cubs do the job

    Some consolation to Cubs fans...
Soriano's homer put the spike through the heart of the dying Cardinals and ended any chance that they had of winning the division.
There's still a remote chance of postseason play but with five games left the Cards are 3 back in the Wild Card race.

I don't think any realistic Cardinal fan thought there was a chance at catching the Brewers!

The Cardinals are only TWO games behind Atlanta. Tomorrow Atlanta plays Washington and the Cardinals play the Cubs. Atlanta then has three games against the best team in baseball, while the Cardinals play three against the worst team in baseball.

Forgive me, but I don't feel the Cards' chances are that "remote".

Carlos Marmol is not a closer..... Carlos Marmol is not a closer.... Carlos Marmol is not a closer...

Trade Carlos Marmol to a team that thinks he is a closer!

I actually like the Cardinals chances to make the playoffs. Might have to change my avatar if they make it. But, that doesn't mean I am pulling for any Cardinals wins in the playoffs.

I do too, and was mostly responding to the original post and apparent reason for this thread to begin with.

                        Dying Cardinals...? Get real.

If you had to choose shoes to be in would you choose:

                        A) A team who has lost their way into a wildcard race and has 3 to go against the best team in baseball with a 1 game lead

                        B) A team who has won their way into a wildcard race and has 3 to go against the worst team in baseball with a 1 game deficit

or C) A team who is so pathetic they haven't won a single thing in over 100 years and even their "fans" don't really believe in them and have to get s**t faced hammered just to bear to watch the games live.

                        Personally, I choose B.

LOL. This thread is classic cubs fan. Taking joy in something that doesnt matter. The cardinals havent been in the division race for about three weeks. Lets hope they continue their recent "dying" ways tonight.

well smitty -- I started the thread and am hardly a Cub fan -- but I am truly annoyed by some arrogant Cardinals fans who rival NYYank fans for sheer obnoxiousness

Each and every pro sports team had "some arrogant fans"! I certainly hope that isn't a big surprise to anyone.

However, I still have a hard time believing ANY Cardinals fans truly believed they had a shot at winning the division two days ago!
