  • Why is there so much rental housing around bu still available?

Yes, totally unrelated to sports here, but not bu. I headed up to bradley for a 1/2 marathon in pekin this weekend and stopped in to see the women volleyball team play against uic. Whew!!!! If your not one of the shorter diggers, you better be at least 6 feet tall.

Anyway, looking around some of the neighboring homes in the uplands, near moss/barker, and by the parking garage...i see a lot of advertising in the yards for student housing still available.

Is enrollment in the soph-sr. Class down this year? Or, is there an effort by bu to get more in university housing apartments?

Not sure if the leasing economy got hammered there, but with students already in class, would be tough to fill up the remaining rental units...

I believe nearly 200 BU students now have the option of moving in to upscale living down the road. Take a look and see where you'd rather live --

Yes, I saw this nice new housing as well. Sounded a little expensive though.

Heck, when I was in school there, we packed ourselves in off campus housing to lower the rental costs. That way we could have enough money for Sullys, the Lucky Lady, Jimmys, and some Old Style....

      thanks for the info....

Hopefully, back Thursday night for a soccer win against Eastern Illinois...

As a current BU uperclassman, you cant move out of the dorms until your Jr year, unless you move into a Fraternity or Sorority house or the Main Street Commons.

Most of the houses you see advertisements in front of are advertising for next year. Many of them are full already, but most BU students start looking at houses and signing leases september- october.

Also, the Main Street Commons are ridiculously expensive. Their rent plus a mandatory utility package is over $700 per month which is nearly double what i pay living in St. James just across the street.

You can move off campus before your Jr. year. It's not easy, but it can be done. I only lived in the dorms for 1 year and am not greek.
I can do all things through pasta, which strengthens me.
