That's the only Super PAC i believe in.

And people say the media has a liberal bias, but the most popular news channel and radio channels are FOX news. I think that takes care of a little bit of the balance.

Plus newspapers will be gone soon, so liberally biased writers won't have a home soon. Plus, people find the news they want to find. So why worry about this bias anymore? It's not like the 80s where you could only turn to a paper and the major networks for news.

Regardless of whether you believe a bias exists or not, the rate it is claimed by conservatives is ludicrous. It is on par with the way liberals use 'racist'. It is way overused as well. It is possible to criticize a black president without being racist - just like it is possible to report on one of the largest media moguls in the world being tied to a disgusting scandal, without it being based on bias. I don't care much for Murdock, but I don't honestly believe he was over the shoulder of these guys hacking into phones. That having been said, one of his media outlets appears to be a massive culprit in a scandal, while he was trying to buy up more major media in Britain - I don't see why it is so suspicious that it gets legitimate television time.

He was suspended by the company! I don't agree with him on everything, but I very much like Olbermann's show. That being said, I think that MSNBC did the correct thing by suspending him. Now on the other hand, Fox News has people on their station whom have their own Political Action Committee's and whom are basically getting free "advertising" on their network via their shows. Do you expect people with their own PAC's to be "fair and balanced" on their Fox News Show? I wouldn't.
I have watched and essentially been forced to take the biased liberal major news outlets for more than 40 years that I have been interested in current world and national events...
Finally someone without the usual liberal slant comes along and for once it is refreshing -- and I am confident that the millions of others who get their info from Fox feel the same -- and it's much to the chagrin of the NBC, CBS, ABC, and CNN folks who have lost tons of revenue and millions of viewers...and whose ratings have tanked in their efforts to help bolster the failing progressive liberal policies that have now gotten us so deep into financial he** we may never get out...

Strangely - in a fit of incredible disorientation-- we still have ultra liberals saying the government needs to increase spending massively for us to get out of this..

thanks to Fox -- the majority of Americans now know why that would be horrific and have tried to elect more conservative people in congress...
The federal government is recklessly spending massive amounts irresponsibly but the liberals want to spend even more!!!
Global markets plunged on Tuesday, and are continuing to fall Wednesday. The consensus is that an extremely poor consumer spending report sparked the selloff. The Commerce Department’s report that consumer spending fell 0.2 percent in June did provide the spark. But it ignited a powder keg of doubt among economic watchdogs [...]

Ultimately the feds will be spending 100% of all the money there is -- they will be the only spender in existence and I kinda think there's some who actually want it that way!!

I thought we already had a thread about taxation and spending.

My only comment on this thread, which IMO should be in the other thread, about the spending etc is that liberals do not have complete ownership in that field. There is enough blame to go around to both parties. We need only to look back at the W years...

Now back to the media bias part of the thread, when there is a news agency such as Fox in this case that wields so much power, and has such a following that really does not tend to view other news outlets for their personal information, than those viewers are susceptible to the corporate culture that exists within the Fox News agency. The News Corp culture has already provided us with the phone hacking scandal which has the potential to spread, and the hiring of presenters with their own PAC's whom have their own shows on that network. If people wish to view that as their media source...fine.... I think that it limits their world view though.

on this we completely agree --
the biggest problem of all is that the people who "serve" in Washington become career pols and serve themselves and their own interests first...

I would have no problem with term limits on congressmen and senators...
When career politicians commit serious crimes and have horribly filthy scandals - yet their constituents still want them and vote them back in -- then those stoopid voters absolutely have no right to complain..
Thank heaven Blago was booted out or those robot/corpse-voters in Chitown would have re-elected him as well...

we are three more months into this and I'll bet nobody has ever heard that several other newspapers and journalists were involved....because the media seems only to cite the involvement of the Murdoch employees..but then it's severely redundant to point out that the media is self-serving and biased...

Now we have another British newspaper accused to have been involved in hacking...
But this story won't get reported by many in the US...

A former reporter for the British tabloid The People says the newspaper obtained information by hacking into cellphones.
