Yea it was a great game, and a very good cup by all standards. That handful of shots off the post was a heartbreaker, but in the end - Japan's ability to switch between possession and counterattack was pretty impressive and lethal. Also, the WWC helped tide me over this summer, only a few more weeks will the EPL starts back up again.

That was an excellent final. Too bad the USA lost, but the Japanese played a really nice patient version of football. They didn't give up posession very often and counterattacked extremely well. I thought the USA looked bigger, stronger, and faster, but they kept giving up posession in their half and the Japanese kept getting the ball into the box to make things happen.

Just a question, anyone else think that the red card at the end of the game was a bad call? Despite my rooting for the US, it looked like the tackle got there at the same time as the ball... It turned out to have no impact on the game, but it looked like a really poor call to me.

To me it was a foul and the only reason she received a red card was because it was a scoring opportunity. If Alex Morgan gets by she has only the goalie to beat.

I understand why the last player before goal is a red card... But I'm very dubious on the foul. The tackle got there when the ball did, and she made contact with ball and player. Usually that red card comes because someone has no play on the ball at all but impedes the player anyway. It was a pretty rough tackle, so I could've maybe seen a yellow card, but since she actually got to the ball the red card seemed out of place.
