Get gas prices down?? Obama controls gas prices? If we pull out of the middle east gas prices WILL NOT decline. Violence would INCREASE between countries, gas prices would go up due to the violence and even if violence didn't occur it would still go up because we aren't there anymore. We're over there to stake our energy claim against China/Russia. China already has East Turkistan aka XinJiang an absolute wasteland of genocide and nuclear waste all for the lake of natural gas it sits on. The middle east is a mess and all the special interests over there is mind boggling. It should be reason enough to get started on american energy and renewable energy, but neocons man...neocons

IMO, the reasons that we are seeing the higher gas and commodity prices are a direct result of the easing of position limits etc by both parties throughout the years. Yes, we need speculators to make the market work, but speculators who are left increasingly unchecked have created this market in which prices are easily manipulated. We need to reimpose regulations to eliminate the speculation in commodities by Wall Street and return the market back to speculation by the genuine end users.

Or we could check facts. Nah.

GM engineers have determined a Chevrolet Volt was not the cause of a fire that destroyed the Connecticut garage where it was recharging, the company says.

How does the President lower gasoline prices? I'm unaware that commodity prices are set by the executive branch. If I'm incorrect with this assertion, then I demand lower prices on craft beer. $6-8 for a six-pack is totally un-American. Am I supposed to buy cheap bear owned by a European/African company? Not in my 'Merica! /partial sarcasm

There are plenty of accurate criticisms to direct at GM and Obama without fabrication.

Eh, I never saw the follow up articles just the ones about the fire and the volt flared up again later.

Tough question since they do own a few nukes. They obviously cannot be trusted and I would not give their government a cent but perhaps segments within their elite that are pro-western.

I do agree that Obama has little effect on gas prices. However if gas is at $4.50+ per gallon in 2012, he will be defeated. So in that personal sense, it is his problem to fix. Also, for the good of the country and the slowly recovering economy, it is definitely the office's job to fix.

I thought about that too, but that would then require Pakistani officials to admit they knew all along where OBL and other terrorists were hiding while lying about it to the very people providing them approx. 3 billion dollars annually to fight that very thing. Doesn't seem likely to admit something of that magnitude...

And then there is the other hand where WHAT IF they really had no idea about OBL and other terrorists...and they kept saying hey USA we really don't know...we therefore are not satisfied because they didn't "give up others that were hiding within their borders" and we stop funding them only to tip the delicate scale that is our relationship even further to the side we don't want it to be on...radical islamists ideals taking hold....

                          CUT. For multiple reasons.

                          This country is broke.

I'd like to donate thousands of dollars to the tornado victims in the south but I don't - you know why? Because I don't have thousands of dollars sitting around and unlike our government, I'm not gonna take a loan out to donate money...

I wouldn't be so sure. Obama is already planning coming home parades for the troops in Iraq to coincide with the presidential debates and election. That is the only reason we are still in Iraq - because it is more politically advantageous to wait another year. Book it.

you mean because there is oil in iraq?

IMO, this is a very delicate question because of the balance of power in that region and the fact that they have nukes. I think that Pakistan knew that Bin Laden was in their country and decided to look the other way. As for now, I think that we have to use a carrot and stick approach if we are to give Pakistan money. Keep the communication lines open, so we can monitor them closely.
