...And the Bears themselves have complained about the surface, including one Jay Cutler- back in December...
Yeah, the media made a big deal about the criticism by Cutler, but the turf problems at Soldier Field are due to the weather in Chicago in the winter. The only way it would be better is to replace it with artificial turf, and none of the players want that. As I said, no field is resodded more often that Soldier Field. Part of the problem with the turf tearing and giving way is the fact that when it is resodded in the winter, it's difficult to water it, and the roots are not going to take. The players can complain all they want, but it is not significantly different than other outdoor, northern stadiums, especially ones used for multiple purposes. And it is not likely to get much better.
The NFL is sending their own turf experts to Chicago to examine the field. We'll see what the experts say.
The Bears need a reverse retractable field. Similiar to the field in AZ, except instead of rolling from the stadium to outdoors, roll outside into a greenhouse. Then on gameday, sell the greenhouse as premium covered temperature controlled parking.
Should be one of the highest rated non-SB games ever! Should be a hard fought game, with both teams laying it all on the line. #2 seed Bears against the #6 seeded Packers!!!! Got to love it!
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.
The guys on the Score in Chicago were complaining a couple months ago that the field was bad partly because there was a high school game played between games and they didn't fix it. Don't know if it's true or not.

Because Soldier Field is owned by the city of Chicago, and run by the Chicago Park District, the Bears are not the only tenent. The field is used for numerous events throughout the year. It's been reported that rock concerts do a lot of damage to the turf, as well as other sporting events.
It's a great week to be a Chicagoan!
A terrible year to be a Braves fan.
Give us something to cheer about for 2 more weeks BEARS!
I've never been part of something as big as this as a Sports fan - an avid follower of sports, but happened to miss most of the Bears 2006-'07 season and was in South America for 2 weeks when BU went to the Sweet 16.
So Cubs-Padres NLCS (1984) & Cubs-Marlins NLCS (2003) were the biggest thrills for me in 30+ years...both ending in utter heartbreak.
Haven't missed a Bears game all season, so this would be special with a W vs. our biggest rivals!
It is football, outdoors, in January. It would be no different at Lambeau Field. Though some Seahawks were complaining, I didn't see any Bears slipping yesterday.
But it should still be no problem for the best team in the NFL (Packers) against the 10th best team in the NFL (the Bears).
