  • NY Giants - PHI Eagles game

What a come back by the Eagles! They played a great 2nd 1/2. It just shows you that with a good QB you are never ever out of it. Can NY say collapse!

I just watched the Philadelphia Eagles just beat the NY Giants after the Giants had dominated most of the game. The Giants lead 31-10 halfway through the 4th quater of the game played at The Meadowlands. The Ealges, lead by Michael Vick, scored 3 touchdowns over about 6 minutes to tie the game 31-31.
But then came the amazing ending. The Giants were unable to move the ball, and with just seconds left in the 4th quarter, the Giants had to punt the ball. All they had to do was punt away from the returner or out of bounds and the quarter would have ended and the game would have gone to overtime. But inexplicably, the Giants punter kicked a low punt right at one of the top returners in the NFL Desean Jackson. Despite fumbling the ball as he fiended it, he recovered and thanks to some really bad punt coverage by the Giants, he returned it 65 yards for the 38-31 Philadelphia win. Giants coach Tom Coughlin showed what a classless coach he is by going berserk and running to his punter and verbally lambasting him in front of the sellout home crowd.

If he knew he shouldn't have punted it to Jackson, the coach had every right to chew him out. He makes very good money not to do such stupid things. But when a team blows a 31-10 lead with that little time left the punter is not the only reason they lost.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Yeah I think you exaggerated what Coughlin did after the game....all he was doing was questioning the punt..."why didn't you kick it out of bounds?" you can read his lips and he was hardly yelling

I won't argue, but what I saw was more than just asking him a question, he was singling out and dressing down a player and IMO that should be done in the locker room and not on the middle of the field.
The punter, Matt Dodge is a rookie and not a high-paid veteran. Also, the snap was not ideal, and he had to hurry to get the punt off. The touchdown runback was not his fault. The receiver fumbled it several yards behind him and took time to recover it. It should have easily been covered. All the Giants players had to do was keep the return guy out of the end zone, or just force him out of bounds. There was plenty of fault to go around.
