Other writers have propsed that possibility-

And here is a blogger I recalled from before this past season, almost a year ago, who proposed the scenario where the Cubs would go after Albert Pujols. Some of what he suggested has already come true- The Cubs getting rid of Derrick Lee, Ted Lilly, and then the Cubs allowing the contracts of Fukudome and Silva to expire after the 2011 season. And now the Pe?ħa contract would expire, too, after 2011. So maybe it is not so far-fetched.

I think that the Cardinals will sign Pujols and, if he isn't traded, the Cubs will more than likely go after Prince Fielder next year. I also think that part of this article is probably "talk" by the Cubs in an attempt to increase the potential contract for Pujols, which in turn, could affect what the Cardinals will be able to allocate to other players on the team. jmho

It's rumored the Cubs are in on Brandon Webb. Both sides are interested, but the Cubs doctors are analyzing his medical status first. I think this would be a low-risk high-reward type pick up. I'm all for it. If we can trade for Greinke or more likely Garza too then great. Can we please get rid of Fukudome too so we can have enough money to bring Kerry Wood back where he belongs and not land on the White Sox?

Probably easier said then done. But the Cubs found a way to get rid of Milton Bradley.
