The Arizona Rangers (Minor League affiliate of the Texas Rangers) have named Bradley grad Brian Shouse as their pitching coach this summer.
        Brian will wear #27
The manager is Kenny Holmberg who has managed the AZ Rangers since 2011

They are in the Rookie League- and thus will have on their roster a bunch of kids who were just drafted out of college, juco, and even high school - so their game schedule does not start until June.
During spring training, the parent club, the Texas Rangers, play their spring training games at the Arizona club's home field, Surprise Stadium in Surprise, AZ.

Former Bradley pitcher Brian Shouse continues to move up in the Texas Rangers system. For several seasons he was the pitching coach at their Rookie League team the Arizona Rangers, and then with their short season Class A team in Spokane.
This season, Brian was promoted to their Double A team the Frisco RoughRiders

Good for Brian - congrats... but tough on his family as they live in Peoria (still have kids in elementary school) & won't see him a lot during the season..

Ex-Bradley Brave Brian Shouse is now retired but was the perfect example of the left handed specialty pitcher - often used for getting JUST ONE OUT
when a lefty was up...but...NEW CHANGES coming in Major League Baseball will effectively eliminate the one-batter specialists.
Starting in 2020, any pitcher will be required to face a minimum of 3 batters or to the end of the half-inning...
This rule is a new speed-up rule to eliminate multiple pitcher changes in late innings...
One trade deadline? A three-batter minimum for relievers? Significant rule changes are coming to baseball quite soon.

"...more significant changes will come in 2020. Most notably, all pitchers will be required to pitch to a three-batter minimum
or though the end of a half-inning, with exceptions for injuries or “incapacitating illness.”
The rule effectively signals the end of the lefthanded specialist, whose job often was to face a single lefthanded hitter
before being pulled regardless of the outcome."
