Anyone going to the 5A playoff game at Richwoods today? I expect another Hilltopper victory but probably only by 3-4 TD's this year as opposed to 7 like last year.
Tucker, Isaac, Jones, Ferguson.......the 4-horsemen. An awesome sight indeed.
Dinma Odiakosa 6'8 255......The Nigerian Nightmare!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 37 points and 27 boards in 2 wins over Bradley. "Will Egolf is 6'9 and he had 4 rebounds. That's not good enough and he's not good enough"....Dick Versace 2/9/10

Congrats to Richwoods. They upset my Hilltoppers 17-14. Great effort by the Knights. Hats off.
ST Brave......you want some cheese with that whine?

There's no whining...
Just stating the obvious...the IL HS football system is flawed when it has public schools who get their players through districting have to compete against schools that recruit players from all over..

I agree, should make private schools play their own seperate championships .
I find that argument laughable especially since it never applies to other sports like say basketball where private schools are rarely in championship games let alone winning them. Basketball is dominated by public schools minus the rare case where a St Joe's or a Catholic League school might have a big year.
I wonder why that is? If private schools recruit as you say why stop at football? why not recruit at all sports and win all the titles?
I guess Providence must have had a few horrendous 'recruiting classes' since they failed to make the playoffs this year?
If you can't field a decent football team with a school with 3000 students then shame on you.

As much as it pains me , I have to agree with Cooksey on this one. How are you stating the obvious when calling them "cheaters"? That's kind of like saying the Yankees are cheaters simply because they have and use their resources to play by MLB's flawed rules. I have a MUCH bigger problem with MLB than I do with the Yankees. I have always found it interesting that people say "I hate the Yankees because they spend all that money" rather than saying "I hate Major League Baseball because their system sucks".
Anyways.....if you're playing by the rules that are provided.....then you are not cheating.
???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12
Why should the IHSA separate the private schools from the public schools? I think what some are missing here is that the heads of households for these football players from private schools directly and indirectly (if they are paying rent, let's day) help the public school district via property taxes.
Here is the thing. Even if you pay off your mortgage, it's not like you own the house. If you wanted to make a stand and not pay the portion that goes the school district in your area, good luck trying to sell the house or try to face the embarrassment of having your property being published in the newspaper...

I have to disagree...
A Peoria school just won the soccer championship and they recruit kids all the way down to Springfield to move up and play there...
Why not in basketball you ask...because most of the kids that play basketball that are talented couldn't afford to go to these high schools...
Heck, if the STL Catholic schools tried to recruit the Gilberts and Miles' of the basketball world it wouldn't matter, because unless someone is paying their way, they could never afford it.
Besides, basketball is about as cheap as you can get and why in IL football, baseball, and soccer are generally won by the private schools more times than not...lots of money involved always benefits the private institutions or those that are part of their own school districts...
Why else would the Wilmette's, Naperville's, and Winnetka's always win swimming competitions?!
Schools are sport specialized and throw their money at 1 or 2 and those are their "pay" sports and the private schools recruit those very well...
How else would it explain a kid from southern IL moving to Metamora and then the family moving to Pontiac...
All I'm gonna say is, watching the highlights many times, it didn't look like that Richwoods kid was even close to catching that ball in the endzone.
I was just going to ask that question to anyone that was there...from what I saw on TV he was juggling it and was OOB.
NOT to take anything away from the win...obviously the ref signalled good...and for the record I'm not a RW hater. JC knocked MY team (Sterling) out the week before.
