I know the SF and Texas fans love it..
but the potential of a Texas vs San Francisco matchup in the World Series must have the network, advertisers, and MLB worried about just who's gonna bother to watch..
Both markets are among the smallest in Major League baseball, and any of the night games, especially out in San Francisco are going to be starting so late that they'll bomb two-fold on the east coast, since nobody out east will care much for either team involved and they sure won't stay up to 10 or 11PM to even see the start of the games on the opposite coast.
But there's apparently even more to this story -- as even the games that involved the Yankees have been surprisingly BIG flops....I guess all the overkill of hearing about ARod, Jeter, steroids, etc...24/7 has burned out the rest of the nation and the Yanks just don't interest as many people outside the Big Apple any more.
Monday's example -- a boring, 30-3 blowout Monday Night FB game between the two worst-market NFL teams, Tennessee & Jacksonville (last place team) -- that had only half the viewers that most Monday Night games generally have, still outdrew the playoff game between the Yankees & Rangers by 15% in the ratings.
Monday night's rerun of Pawn Stars on History cable actually had more than half the audience the Yanks/Rangers baseball game had!!
..but Dancing beat them all...
