This has been a nightmare so far for The Rangers! Go Giants. The city is going wild! I get home from work with the TV blaring and the game on with my honey watching. What a great site!

World Series ratings off 26% thus far...
he 2010 World Series between the San Francisco Giants and Texas Rangers continues to deliver solid, if unspectacular, TV ratings for Fox Sports.Through 2 games, Fox's World Series coverage is averaging an 8.7 rating, down 26% from the first 2 games of the New York Yankees-Philadelphia Phillies last year, but up 1% from Phillies-Tampa Bay Rays in 2008, says Fox spokesman Dan Bell. The Giants' 9-0 victory in Thursday's Game 2 to take a 2-0 Series lead averaged an 8.5 TV rating and 14.1 million view ...

Not surprised that Selig would want this series in seven games, six at the least, in order to sell more advertising. This is not going to be a fun series if it ends in a sweep, especially with all of the hype of the Rangers.

The only way the World Series will become a big, big deal again is if the Cubs appear in it. And it would probably be VERY highly-rated if they played the Cardinals in the NLCS and the Yankees in the World Series.

People don't care? Not going to be a fun series?? Apparently depends on who the people are! Shows that baseball fans care mostly about their own teams while football fans care for good football regardless of who is playing...

Better get used to this WS cause the Giants will be back often if they can keep this pitching staff together (and their minor league studs mature as anticipated!)

If the only way the World Series becomes a big big deal again is if the Cubs appear in it, I guess we can all kiss the World Series good-bye!

I hear you loud and clear AZ! To me, an NFL team in a small-market is not a detriment to success. Just look at Green Bay or Indianapolis as examples of this. You can definitely be elite, and not have to be in NY, Chicago or Dallas.

But in MLB, it is a system of haves and have-nots. The teams like the Marlins or the Rays surprise people, but they cannot sustain all that success. I mean, you would know better than I would that the Dbacks success in its early years came at a VERY hefty price.

If it was The Giants against the Yankees the ratings would be much better. I'm not sure who the Rangers could play to have higher ratings but perhaps the Cubs because of their history with the goat.

Game 4 tonight should be a good one- The Giants will go with 21 year old Madison Bumgarner (7-6 in 18 starts with a 3.00 ERA in regular season), and the Rangers will start 24 year old Tommy Hunter (13-4 in 22 starts, with a 3.73 ERA)-

Here’s the Inside Edge breakdown of Game 4 of the 2010 World Series between the San Francisco Giants and...

More about the terrible ratings this series has been getting-
Getting to Games 6 and 7 could bring the buzz missing from a matchup between mid-sized regional markets.

MLB and the networks can only blame themselves for the disinterest in these 2 teams. All year the networks and MLB promote their favorite teams and their stars, so the general public and casual fans probably think the Rangers and Giants are teams from the Pacific Coast League. If the networks and MLB would have spent a little more time showing teams like this, and promoting the young stars they have, maybe more people would want to watch.

Da Coach I agree! If you have not seen Buster Posey yet (and what a great baseball name) and you are a baseball fan your missing a special talent. You should also listen to composure that this 21 year old rookie has. I'm a huge fan and I'd bet every single one of you guys that post here would be.

Record low worst ratings ever for World Series

                    (ties with Phils/TB of 2008 )

I guess when the Giants return to the WS next year, and play (and beat) the Yankees, or the Red Sox, or the White Sox, ratings can only go up!

Darn Rangers killed the ratings this year....

The Rangers were all hat and no cattle!

Not too many native Bay Area folks end up in Illinois/Peoria! I was part of that minority for 15 years of my Cat career before returning West after retiring.

Another sad reality is the number of SF Giant Fans who are 'herbally impaired' and can't figure out how to turn computers/smart phones on and post in the electronic age!

FWO you need to get out of Peoria. You should of hit the Victory parade and seen the fans. As AZ said, herbal impaired/medicated is about right.
