  • Ichiro

Here's what I consider a good sports story...

Ichiro has set another record -- 200 or more hits in his 10th consecutive season!
No other player had done it more than 8 consecutive seasons in the 150-year history of baseball records being kept..
Ichiro has never been connected to drugs, bar brawls, fights, or any other controversy all the while being loyal to the team that had signed him originally -
never demanding more and more money or jumping to the Yankees just for more fame and fortune.

This accomplishment is one that might never be broken and thus is on par with some of the records set by Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, and Joe Dimaggio...
yet Ichiro gets way less press and NEVER whines about it....
Ichiro is also likely to end the season with more hits than anyone else in the majors -- the 7th time he's done that which will also tie Pete Rose and Ty Cobb for that record.

I wish there were more players like Ichiro in baseball.....

I'm an Ichiro fan! Let's not forget about his D. The guy can field and throw.

I think we hear less from Ichiro because of the language barrier....but i am sure he is still an A+ player and guy.

Some places teach better values for sure.

He gets his gloves custom made from a guy back in Japan I heard.

FWO on the right track here. In japan his reputation is okay but he's considered to be a bit of a snob and thee were rumors of some deviant interests... But overall he's a hero sort of figure and considered to be the best ball player since Oh.

For what it's worth, Ichiro had a reputation as "cold" in the clubhouse. However, when Griffey Jr. came to the team in 2009, they developed a nice friendship.

Maybe more info than we should know.
