  • SIUC and ISU (Red)

Two MVFC teams are taking on the two Illinois-based Big Ten teams today. The Redbirds play Northwestern in Evanston, and tonight the Salukis go against the Illini in Champaign (another War on 74).

I am aware these are guarantee games, and there is a chance that these two teams will lose, but I will root for them. They're underdogs, and who doesn't like an underdog?

If any mod wants to make this a sticky and make it an official game watch thread or some such, be my guest.

Though I am a fan of Illinois football, I would secretly like to see SIU pull an upset. But I don't think it is possible. I'll also pull for ISU football at Northwestern, though that will also be a monumental task.
Because this forum doesn't get much posting, I am sure this thread will stay at or near the top all day, so no need for a sticky. But feel free to post updates.

BTW, one other MVC team plays at a Big Ten school today- WIU (which plays in the MVC for football) plays at Purdue starting at 11 am.

Thanks Coach. I intentionally left out WIU because they were not playing an Illinois-based Big Ten team.

I just hope that this game is not over by halftime. I'm not into football all that much, but if an MVFC team is playing an FBS opponent that plays in a BCS auto-qualifier conference, then I have to get on the bandwagon!

          NW-37
          ISU-3

Well, I was optimistic that this game would not be "over" before halftime. Down by three touchdowns.

It's about over for ISU- Northwestern takes a 37-3 lead with about 4 1/2 minutes left.

Purdue leads WIU 24-7 with about 12 minutes left.

Cincinnati leads Indiana State 40-7 with 6:40 left

            scores-

Right now the University of South Dakota Coyotes (no relation to SDSU that plays in the MVFC) has a ten point lead (41-31) over Minnesota about six and a half minutes left in the fourth quarter.

If there is a coach whose seat will get hot in the tundra, it's Brewster.

And here's the kicker, they moved up to D-I within the past couple of years.

Well, more like a three-point lead now.
