Thank you so much for Eric Peterson’s story, “Left without a home.” The story broke my heart and gave me continued empathy for those who just need a little extra “hand up” and not a “hand...

I say b.s to the b.s. Anyone who saw his press conference after the game saw a man who is passionate about baseball. I just wish he would have shown that same passion during the last 2 seasons. I respect him for wanting to go home to take care of his mom. He and Joe Torre are the 2 guys who have over 1,700 hits as players and 1,700 wins as managers. He was as fun to watch as a player as he was as a manager. It was time for him to go but he'll still be missed.

If you check the news lately, he has been gone for a few days at a time these past few weeks because of his mother, pretty sure that isn't BS. I can't criticize a man for putting his family first, just wish the Cubs would've given him a better send-off. 40 years in a baseball uniform is a pretty impressive feat and I'd say he has earned the right to retire so hopefully he enjoys it and hopefully his mother will get better soon and I'm sure at some point we will probably see him stuttering in the press box.

The point I was making is....if the cubs were in 1st place he wouldn't have retired....so it is 75% the fact the cubs suck. 25% family. IMO
