The Cubs have dealt Ted Lilly and Ryan Theriot to the LA Dodgers along with paying the Dodgers $2.5 milllion in cash to cover some of Lilly's salary. In return, the Cubs get infielder Blake DeWitt, and 2 minor league pitching prospects- right-handers Kyle Smit and Brett Wallach
IMO, this trade seems to favor the Dodgers. The Cubs get nobody who appears to help them now or soon. DeWitt has been a disappointment to the Dodgers (he's been basically a .260's singles hitter with an average glove), and the 2 pitchers have had success at the lower minor league levels, but at best appear several years away from being ready for the major leagues.

Why are the Cubs so generous?
