Speaking of IHSA - here are a few things about their new enrollment figures.......
-IVC High School (Chillicothe) is edging up in enrollment just as Dunlap did when more homes are being built further north of Peoria...
Now IVC's enrollment is just 12 shy of the top of Class 1A ...(2A for basketball)
very shortly they will be playing soccer in 2A, and they'll be playing baseball & basketball in 3A - same as Morton, Dunlap, Richwoods, etc...
-Canton also made a jump...they now have enrollment of 786, which boosts them back to 3A for baseball and basketball. They were in 2A the past couple years.
-Due to the shift of the Woodruff students, the other three District 150 high schools will grow...
(Peoria Woodruff is the only school in the state that closes this year)
-Manual jumps from about 700 to over 900 and now goes back to 3A in basketball and most other sports...
no more of this silly placement of Manual in a regional with Olympia or Peoria Christian.
-most of the Woodruff kids go to Central so their enrollment jumps from about 800 to 1508!!
HOWEVER they don't change class size for any sports, since the cutoffs are at 775, which was below where they were, and 1669 which is still above where they move to in enrollment!
So Central stays in Class 3A for basketball and baseball..
-Metamora, Morton, Dunlap, and Limestone are all around 1000 enrollment, and both East Peoria and Washington are around 1200 - so all the MidState and MidIllini are now in the same class, except Pekin - who are 2114 is the only 4A school around, but lately they play more like a 3A!!
