The game just ended, and Edwin Jackson retired the first 2 Rays batters easily in the 9th, then issued his 8th walk. But then he retired the final batter to complete the no-hitter, and the Diamondbacks win 1-0 over the Tampa Bay Rays. He threw 149 pitches in the game.
It's the second time the Rays have been no-hit this season. Oakland's Dallas Braden threw a perfect game against the Rays on May 9.
There was almost a 3rd no-hitter back on April 10, when C.C. Sabathia of the Yankees lost a no-hitter with 2 outs in the 8th against the Rays.
It is also the 3rd no-hitter against the Rays in the last year. Mark Buehrle of the White Sox threw a perfect game against them on July 23, 2009.

Just goes to show you that today's pitchers could throw more than 100 pitches a game if the managers and agents would let them. I arrived in Arizona, had something to eat and finally remembered the game would be on. Turned it on to see the last out. What part of illegal don't you understand?

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™
