Chico if you read it at all you'd notice that that article talks about his slump since July of LAST SEASON. The amount of games he's played is approximately an entire season where this "slump" has gone on. Read what people write before you try to disregard what they say.

And it's not even me writing it...most of my post is a copy and paste from a journalist from the St. Louis Post Dispatch. I hardly think that his opinion is unqualified.

I could use your phrase "don't talk down to me", but I won't because IMO this is an opinion board and I appreciate others opinion. But I guess you're right, AP is in a slump. Then again the majority of players would love to be in that kind of slump and 31 other teams would gladly take him off the Cardinals hands.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

Oh completely agree his "slumps" are still better than most PLAYERS, but again all I'm saying is that it "isn't Pujols" and if he's going to make 27 to 30 mill he has to become pujols again not just good. He can make 20 mill or so a year to be good...not the most in history. And the only thing that I think you could misconstrue as talking down to you is the sentence "read what people write before you try to disregard what they say" other than that I think the post was very respectful and I was not meaning to talk down to you. I didn't call you names or act like you were crazy which is what I don't like.

Here is how bad Albert is slumping in the National League:

2nd in RBI's, 2nd in HR, 5th in Average, 1st in Walks, 4th in Hits, 2nd in OBP, 6th in slugging percentage, 1st in OPS, and 83rd in Strike Outs......

those are MVP contention numbers......1st in walks and 4th in hits is ridiculous.

Way to chime in now after he's been on a tear for the last 5 games. I hope he keeps it up.

In my first post I posted the FACTS about him since last all-star break. Don't kill the messenger. He hasn't been pujols. I hope his recent games mean he's back.

He hasn't done all this is just 5 games. Shows what a great hitter he is to be in such a "slump" and still have the stats he has. Don't know why I'm so worried about this thread, I'm a Sox fan so I know all about slumps so far this season.

I see what you mean. I wasn't high on him either. I am more rolling my eyes at myself too.

Although his K total is way higher than normal for him even though he is 83rd. That was my biggest annoyance.

Yeah besides the big jump in homeruns from that one game......the rest is more than half a week.

Where's the line start to compliment our great hitting coach on how well we've been hitting over the last week. The players must have decided to start listening to him.
"How do you go from where you are to where you want to be? I think you have to have an enthusiasm for life. You have to have a dream, a goal, and you have to be willing to work for it." - Jim Valvano

maybe they stopped listening to him....

or maybe it has nothing to do with him...

                      so many possibilities...

Interesting debate here.. I haven't been paying attention to this thread until today because I am not a Cardinals fan. I do appreciate what Pujols has done and the statistics he is compiling. If Pujols escapes being implicated with steroids, then he is the best player of this generation.

I'll add a couple of things.

The next couple of years will be very interesting for the Cardinals. I think that the signing of Pujols will put additional strains on the organization as being a mid-market team, I can't see how they will have the resources to sign quality free agents. The Cardinals will have to rely more on their farm system for their talent provided that Pujols gets the contract that he deserves. The Cardinals have done well in the past with their minor league system, but the margin of error will diminish.

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Yeah. I believe the cards have one of the top management regimes as they are able to compete every year being 11th-15th in the pay scale rankings.

Their AA and AAA teams made their respective finals last year so they do have solid players developing. Also their draft this year was swell!
