Just out of curiosity, how many people are like me and had to watch the season finale of LOST tonight? I never thought I'd like the show until a friend gave me the first 5 seasons on DVD and then I got hooked.

You're probably too old to remember the original TV series that was left intentionally vague and bizarre and was not only mysterious but mystical.....and without any real logical plot....and meant to keep you guessing what's really happening...
The Prisoner was a television show that starred Patrick McGoohan in 1968 and 1969 and was so bizarre that many people felt the story line was intentionally written to make you feel like you aren't smart enough to figure it out or have missed something.
Some people liked it and it even developed a cult following - and of course - now there's a remake of The Prisoner in the making...

POSSIBLE SPOILERS ALERT!!!!!
I haven't missed an episode of Lost since the beginning and I've been waiting for the finale for 2 seasons now since they announced it. I loved the majority of things that happened in Lost, even though half of them didn't make since or didn't really turn out to mean much (the lighthouse, the temple/temple people). I love how much symbolism/meaning were behind things in Lost, even the names of the characters.
I wasn't super happy with the finale, but I can live with it. I wanted the sideways world to mean more than just a place where they all could find each other (or whatever it was). I still am trying to understand it all.

I'm not sure why anyone would think they were dead throughout the entire series. I never got that impression at all.???People say, ???Forget last year', but I want our guys to remember that one, because that will not happen again. We will be much better.??? Geno Ford, 9/22/12

My thoughts...the "alternate universe", meaning the story line that was off the island, was interesting because i think all along most people expected it to be more "normal" than the world with the island in it, but in the end it turned out that alternate universe was even more bizarre than the "real world" which included the island. My problem was it didn't explain what the island was or what the light was and what it was doing in the "real world". It was cool that they had everyone meet at the end for the passing through into heaven or w/e you believe it was. Christian shepard is an interesting name for Jack's dad that seemed to shepard them all into the one place for Jack's death. They also explained that everyone being there with the line where christian basically says they arent in a "when" or a "where" meaning they arent in time and they arent really anywhere..and when jack asked if everyone out there died christian responded saying everyone dies eventually...so that makes me believe the people on the airplane (kate, sawyer, etc) all did escape the island and when Ben and Hurley were talking about being good #1's and #2's that makes me think they lived a while longer on the island which did not sink and they all meet up in one meeting spot outside of space and time which was depicted through Jack's death (eventho Ben did not want to "leave" or pass on and therefore did not go inside the church)...it was very creative yet still kind of a "cop out" ending but overall since I was expecting a fully disappointing ending because of how they set themselves up I was pleasantly surprised...at least it wasn't all a dream. In the end it's a tv show though. It had a good run.
