  • Go Blackhawks

Want to watch a good basketball game? Watch hockey. That was a great game last night. Note how on offence they always have one or two low posts, one or two on the sides of the goal and when the puck gets shot they crash the net. Hockey is a great sport. Go Blackhawks!!!!

Game 5 tonight- Vancouver Canucks vs. Blackhawks. The Hawks are up 3 games to 1. Things should be rocking at the United Center tonight. I am headed up to see the game and hope to see the Hawks close out the series in 5 games. Vancouver goalie Roberto Luongo is trying for a change of luck- he shaved off his beard.

Growing playoff beards has become a bit of a tradition in the NHL. Many of the Blackhawks are growing them, too, except a couple of their youngsters like Kane and Toews, who probably can't grow much of a beard..
    Best NHL playoff beards-

I am not a hockey fan...but on NHL 09 for xbox 360 I did a Be a Pro Mode and was on the Canucks. I like Luongo.....so from that point on I said I was a Canucks fan.

I can't root against the Blackhawks though.

I wish they would have won Sunday, but this win tonight was just as nice. Great to see them bounce back from being whipped on their own ice Sunday, to have such a strong game tonight. I watched a number of talking heads on the networks the last couple days, predicting the Canucks would win the series. Vancouver has a couple great players, and one great line, but they are not strong with their depth and defense and rely way too much on Luongo saving them. It didn't happen tonight.

Bring on the Sharks! I'd love to go see a Hawks game at the United Center in this series, but I imagine the ticket prices are super-high! Still fun to watch on the big-screen at home.
Blackhawks D looked pretty impressive last night, and throughout most of the series. I like the way Biflin (I don't remember how to spell his name) plays - with wreckless abandon!
Nice to have one Chicago team playing well this time of year. Cubbies haven't been too exciting so far.

Looking good so far again! That Nieme Kid is just outstanding. We win tonight and we're up 2-0 is this series. Best Hawks team I've seen since Bobby Hull & Co. The 3rd period will be starting shortly on channelsurfing. They've got 3 links posted, the middle one is a good one.

Hawks win 4-2 and head back to Chicago with a 2-0 lead.
I'll be at game 4 on Sunday!

HAWKS win 4-2 and are now up 2-0. 7th straight road playoff win which ties an all time record. If they can just play like this at home the Hawks should be looking at a sweep. At least there's one Chicago team that's a winner.

Another memorable Blackhawks win tonight to go up 3 games to 0 over the San Jose Sharks. The Hawks won 3-2 in overtime on a goal by Dustin Byfuglien. Antti Niemi, who started the season as the backup goaltender behind Cristobal Huet, has put himself in the company of the best goaltenders in the NHL and will earn a big raise with his next contract.

                    Nice story about Antti Niemi

Thanks, I am sure I will.
If anyone likes hockey, try to get to a Blackhawks game, especially in the playoffs. It's one of the wildest and loudest crowds I've seen at any sporting event.

I wish I could get up there for a game, I'm sure it would be absolutely incredible. Hopefully they'll get the sweep tomorrow. Gotta be cautious though, since San Jose is a good team and we have already seen one team make a comeback after being down 3-0 in a series.

I was there Friday night. It was definitely wild and loud...especially when Big Buff scored the winning goal in OT!!

One of the things you see at the game that you can't see on TV is the pre-game video. It is one of the coolest things I've ever seen, and makes even the Bulls pre-game video look second-rate.

After the game, as I was coming down the staircase from my seat in the 300 level of the UC, one Hawks fan starting chanting "Detroit s@#%s, Detroit s@#%s"!! Pretty soon, everyone is chiming in. Some rivalries in the NHL run very deep, even when they are not playing each other!

They say Buff is 6-4 and 250, so on skates what would that be - 6-6.
I think that's about the same size Barkley was in college.

What I also like to watch during the game is the referees, they really have to move quick to get out of the way and hug the boards at times and avoid getting hit while there. They do a great job refereeing these games and are great skaters too.

I think we got home ice no matter who wins between the Flyers and Canadians. And we get more rest. Things are looking good, I hope so.

                              Hockey is a tough sport.
