    How is everyone playing?

What courses are in great condition?

    Anyone playing in these tournaments?

My season started great....par, par, par......then it went downhill.

Mt. Hawley is great but they just aerated the greens.
    Kellogs greens were blazing...till recently
Newmans greens were faster last time I played.

I've seen many courses in central Illinois over the past month. Every golf course looks great. It's been a wonderful spring to grow grass and the courses are firming up early. I just came back from a Chicago course today - and they say Chicago courses are looking awesome!!

Everybody have a great golfing season!!

I was having my best round ever yesterday. 3 under after 12. Then I got a 7 on the windmill hole.

Can anyone recommend a good course besides Weaver Ridge in Peoria? I'm thinking something along the lines of what a college student may be able to afford. I'm hoping to play next week since I'm done with finals on Tuesday.

My favorite of the public courses in Peoria is Donovan out on knoxville. Followed by Newman. Pretty cheap too.

I hate Donovan. It is terrible. That is why they never play the city tournament there.

Play Newman which is on Nebraska past soccer field on right.

Or Kellog which is out by Willow Knolls.

Coyote Creek has 18 holes after like 3 for 28 bucks.....I don't know if this is still a fact or if it is seasonal or if it is after 4....

I play Donovan once a week when I'm around. I like the big greens and they are usually in good shape and challenging, but what I can't figure out is why a course they say is great for mid to high handicaps is made so tough. IMO, there is no reason for the rough to be as high as it is.

The golf course is in really good shape, greens are excellent. For $29 after 2:00 it is easily the best value around. Also 16 oz. cans of beer for $2.50.

If you're not hitting it straight out there you better bring plenty of balls.

the rough is long because of lack of adequate grounds keeping. the greens seem to be very slow typically IMO

I stick to Kellog Newman as far as PPD courses.

I'm relatively new to the game, got my own clubs and all, but don't play to much. No idea what my score would be on 18. Usually I just play 9 at Kellogg when I go with a friend. The park district learning center is also fun across from kellogg, a great driving range and a cool 9 hole 60-90 yd. par 3's that are good for practicing with sand and pitching wedges.

I don't think it's because of inadequate groundskeeping, but because someone wants to make it tougher than it should be. I like all the greens in the PPD. Nothing like Arizona greens, but don't expect them to be. Newman is a little too tough for me and Kellogg is my favorite. I also play Madison once a week and my favorite watering hole, the Elks, is right next door.
