  • Gale Sayers rips Da Bears

He's just not a real fan.......

One hundred years provides more than several lifetimes full of highlights, some lowlights, and many memories. Here’s a look at 100 years of the Western Golf Association and the Western Open. …

One of the greatest Bears of all time isn't happy with the team's state of affairs.

Gale Sayers took aim Tuesday at coach Lovie Smith, quarterback Jay Cutler and personnel moves that left the Bears without a pick until the third round of the recent NFL draft.

"Cutler hasn't done the job," Sayers said. "(Brian) Urlacher, I don't know how good he's going to be coming back. He's 33 years old. They need a couple wide receivers, a couple defensive backs. They haven't done a good job.

"If Lovie doesn't do it this year, I think he's gone. He had a good team the Super Bowl year. Nothing came together for him the last couple years."

Geez, I saw "Gale Sayers" and "RIP" in the thread title, and I thought Gale Sayers died!
This is just the tip of the iceberg...

Lol that was what I first thought I saw too. Thankfully not.

As far as the Bears, we will see this year, but with the Lions greatly improved we COULD finish last in the north this year. We have been working on our DBs with the draft and Chris Harris, and I think we have some speed in Knox and Hester at wide receiver if they could take that raw talent and actually become good receivers. I would still like another veteran receiver and a corner back, but more importantly fix the offensive line! Football starts upfront.

I have never been a fan of Cutler's leadership and I don't really like him, but we are stuck with him now. Redskins made us look foolish though, getting a more established QB in McNabb for way less than we gave up for Cutler. We could have used that first round pick this year. Urlacher is obviously getting up there in age and regressing, I'm hoping he will still be decent though.

How can you guys fault Cutler so much?

Look at what Orton did at Denver last year.....200% better than he did with the Bears...

It is the whole team. No QB could flourish with a 49 year old OL with a 2nd year rookie, no receivers, and a terrible defense that keeps them down and out.

The only good thing about the bears:

          1. Special Teams
          2. They are the Bears

He is a pretty good not great QB. Never said he wasn't. Everybody faulted Rex Grossman for the same things, but he stood up there and took the criticism like a man. What I said I don't like about Cutler is his leadership and attitude. I don't like him as a person, and while not as important at most positions, I think the QB has to have those qualities. I liked Grossman for that reason, and the Chicago fans were unfair to him and never gave him a real chance. If he just had the season Cutler had, Bears fans would have booed him to no end.

Character is big at the QB spot, probably why Bradford, Tebow, and McCoy were liked so much by NFL teams, and Clausen (whether the perception was true or not I don't know) fell so far from where he should have been.

I didn't like Orton too much either. You search kyle orton on google and the first pictures that come up of are him partying. What he does in his personal life is his business, but when it becomes a public embarrassment where that is what is most known about him, that is something else. A QB represents an organization and has to be more careful and responsible than other positions, plain and simple. And while his yards went way up in Denver, 21 TD's and 12 Int's to 18 TD's and 12 INT's isn't that great a difference. Most of that was Brandon Marshall making him look good too, that won't happen this season.

My other point was the Bears gave up way too much for Cutler, when looking at what the Redskins just gave up for McNabb from a rival.

The RIP needs to be removed, thought he died.

I am a Arizona fan but have had Cutler as my fantasy QB the last two years. In Denver two years ago all he did was throw, had a decent sent of receivers and in Chicago he threw alot to the other team and does not have to many very good receivers.

The biggest difference was in Denver he threw from the shot gun and rarely was under center but beyond that he wasnt on his back half the time like he was in Chicago this last season. The game in Minnesota was a JOKE, he is lucky he didnt die that night from all the hits he took.

The Bears beyond anything need to upgrade their offensive line before anything else. Upgrade that, and Martiz I think will help Cutler to being one of the elite in the NFL. But you cant throw the football on your back... Bradford will find this one out real quick this year.

How about just taking it out of caps? Now it reads rips instead of RIPS

Geez! You guys need to get your eyes checked. I'm 46 and clearly know and see the difference between R.I.P. and RIPS.

I also first looked at it and thought R.I.P. Now on the Bears I'm with Gale on this. It starts with ownership here. The Chicago market has to be the 2nd largest and the largest if you look at per team because NY has 2 teams. There is plenty of money for them to put back into the team and all they do is pick up 1 or 2 pieces a season to keep the fans happy instead of doing it right by completely re-hauling the team (not as much fan support less money for 1-2 years) and then pick up around 6 pieces to complete the team (too cheap!). Ownership has to go!

                      ??” Thomas Jefferson

Yeah I have seen those pictures of him chugging whiskey with his shirt off

I agree they totally gave up way to much for Jay too.

Yeah if you look at a guy like Tebow. I would classify him as a winner. He can win and he has the best attitude and tons of desire. I think a winner will eventually win.
