First Tiger is NOT the first minority to play pro golf, (you can check past history for names) and second, if he wanted to show kids the right things, be a great roll model and mentor, he should of started first by being the best father and husband to his own family
    My opinion, friend
My point was that I like him for golf. His personal issues (which are not as severe as other athletes off field issues) are not a priority to me. I am tired of these episodes blinding people to the fact that TW is still extraordinary.

"Tiger...what a cheater, why are they showing him on the driving range forever" this quote could have very well been

"Oh Tiger, he is so good he was won 70+, 14 majors, and is the best golfer ever...I love how they are showing him on the range. I want to be him."

What is your problem with me bringing race into it. When did I say he was the first minority golfer? You are telling me that golf throughout history has not been dominated by upper class white males? You think more kids would say football is more boring than golf? You are telling me that African-American participation in watching/playing golf has not been affected by Tiger Woods?? WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM?

About being a role model. Do you think the NBA players wholeheartedly want to appear with NBA Cares? How many professional athletes are actually legitimate role models? They do it because they know it will make them look good. So TW got caught but he is no worse than many who haven't.

For the record: I would rather have my role model cheating on his wife then running people over drunk, assaulting 17 year old girls, doing drugs, and flashing gang signs. Would you rather your kid hear about his role model cheating on his wife or doing drugs (drugs which could pop into his life much sooner).

Tiger can be a role model by pumping up fans to the game of golf and showing kids and adults where HARD WORK gets you.

Tiger is Tiger? Why is he being ridiculed for his interview? Did you ever think that maybe it is his WIN WIN SERIOUS FOCUSED COMPETITIVE attitude that is a major part of his success?

    @ HOUSTON

This "Tigering" up the golf course arguement is still total BS

Yeah the course appeared to be playing easy...but I don't see why that makes it help TW and no one else.

EDIT: don't call me friend and be all mean

I would prefer a role model that does none of those things if I have the choice. There are some athletes out there who are just good role models and good people overall. I have a lot of role models, some of whom I wasn't even alive to see coach or play and some of whom aren't superstars, because they were or are classy athletes/coaches. I think greatness outside the game should be looked at more for role models, I always looked at it for mine. Not that these guys never made mistakes, we all have, but they weren't monumental and overall they handled themselves with class.

Tiger was not a role model before for me, and he probably never would have been no matter what so I can't speak on how people feel on him as much. People do deserve second chances, but he hurt his family and kids a lot more severely than most athletes have. That is why I think it is tough to view him as a role model for any kid. Hurting your wife and little kids like that I can't even imagine how she felt and the impact on the kids. Maybe not as bad as some of the things you mentioned, but it is certainly up there.

When all is said and done, Tiger is a great great player and no one can take that away from him, but that doesn't make me lighten up on what he did like some might.

        nice nice.

I really don't want to keep arguing with everyone either lol.

I just think TW is a bad ass that is great at golf.

Many people would have did what he did given the opportunity...IMO

Not trying to argue with ya man, just thowing my view out there.

I agree many would have done the same, but I'd like to think many wouldn't have also. And like I said you're right Tiger is maybe the best golfer ever or close to it. You can't take that away from him, no matter how you feel about him off the course and I don't like him very much.

You're right FWO. many others would have done the same thing. And that would make them scumbags also, not role models.
What part of illegal don't you understand?

I really do not care one way or the other about TW but I find it pretty funny anyway. If you are trying to sell your image, which he was, then you have to take the good with the bad. I'll tell you one thing for all that it is worth, John Kerry is a much bigger scumbag then TW!

I didnt say the shortening of the course did not help everyone. I said, and again for the 3rd time, it helped to ensure that your idol Woods would make it to the weekend. No one really knew the shape of Eldricks game, so by moving tees up and great pin placements they were betting he would shoot a low enough number to be part of the weekend fun.

I used the phrase "Tigering up the course" because I feel the Masters did all they could to get Eldrick on TV for as many hours as possible.

But, in your honor for the way you appear to be drooling over this guy, I think from now on if anything is done easier then it was before it will officially become Tigered up. Or maybe that should be a phrase reserved for his mounting conquests... girl you were Tigered up.

He isnt an idol, he is a guy who plays golf. If you want him as an idol, so be it, I guess cheating multipule times on a wife and 2 kids is not as bad as driving drunk, flashing signs or chasing 17 year olds... but his behavior and choices are not a whole lot better.

"Tigering up" (versus "Tiger proofing") a course is the last thing the upper echelon players want. It broadens the field of potential winners/cut makers. The players know it and so do the tournament sponsors.

So in the last two days you have gone on some personal attack against me...
How old are you? You seem like a really good person yourself when you drop 30 F-bombs.

I never attacked you directly. I poked fun at you mistyping players on our team's last names and for making some statement about tigering up a course.

I understand "dunston" when you can't even spell "multiple"

Who are you to question who I idolize? So no athletes are idols? "He is just Michael Jordan?"

YOU NEED TO EXPLAIN A 4TH TIME.
If the course is made easy, EVERYONE BENEFITS. If it is made hard, EVERYONE SUFFERS.
So making it easy to help Tiger get to the weekend....would also help everyone else who are not at the top of the field talent wise to make it....
I seriously don't get it. The cut is gonna be higher (stroke wise).
Wait...was Tiger playing a different course?

"Tigering" up a course would be like...."Well, Tiger can't hit a fade to save his life right now, and his draw is awesome. Let's not put any pins on the right side of the greens."

Um....I think that was AZ BU Fan with the Dunston misspelling and the starred out post responding to yours. Unless someone else did it again.

Not that I am taking sides either way in that, but I don't think Houston deserves to be yelled at for it...
