Bears sign another free agent

The Bears signed another free agent today- Eddie Williams, a fullback drafted in the 7th round of the 2009 draft by the Redskins was released last week and cleared waivers. He then signed with the Bears.
He spent most of the 2009 season on Washington's practice squad, then was activated for 3 weeks, then spent the rest of the season on injured reserve.

Imagine Urlacher as a super SS? He can cover and is fast enough to make adjustments. I wonder what the Bears are going to do now for their nickle package? Peppers can also carry a lot of ground. They will be tough to throw on and run screens.

Regarding Williams, I wonder if he's just camp-meat. Martz is known for not using FBs at all... Either he's changed or this guy and McKie (if he isn't cut before camp) are going to be kept around to eat up some hits in camp. Williams did play some TE in college, so it could be Martz sees him as H-back or TE material also.

Redskins do sign Rex Grossman. Interesting that the article says if they draft a QB, basically Campbell would become expendable leaving Grossman the possible starter. As I said before I really hope the guy succeeds still, he didn't deserve everything he took and he handled it with honesty and class. Maybe a big break for him here.
