Weather Cancellations?

I can understand if your city suddenly got 30 inches of snow, that maybe a game would be cancelled...
but get this...

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) has already decided to call off and cancel tomorrow's game ...and tentatively reschedule for Sunday...
NJIT is in a very large city, Newark, NJ, that is used to snow and can certainly handle a lot...plus the snow that has already fallen has pretty much been fully plowed....

Note that currently in Newark...it is 38 degrees, NOT currently snowing, but with a forecast of possibly up to 3 inches between now and gametime.....bringing the total snowfall over the past 3 days to around 10 inches in many areas and a bit more in some....

JUST a 10-inch snowfall but most of that's already said and done and little more is expected between now and gametime!!
Newark's airport has cancelled many flights, but it would be easy to fly into Philly and bus to Newark...
A report I just checked said that very few flights are being cancelled anywhere else and ...
"As of noon, Metro reported cancelling less than a dozen flights departing for Newark, N.J.; Philadelphia; Lexington, Ky.; and New York."

I know this will start up the debate all over...so just take it as a simple mention of some facts....

here in the midwest, we had a relatively average winter..but in many, many places they had an exceptionally cold winter...

Now, I know some places always have unusual hot weather...but you have to admit, there's a whole lot of the world experiencing pretty cold weather......

You might want to rethink this as an average winter. According to the NWS in Lincoln, we had the second snowiest winter season since they began keeping records. Also the second snowiest February ever. I also heard, but can't confirm, that this was possibly one of the dreariest winters in the past 20 years based on the amount of sunlight.

I know in Oklahoma it was the 2nd dreariest winter (based on amount of sun) in the past 15 years statewide. Solar radiation from the Oklahoma mesonet has only been available for about the past 15 years.

I was referring to the temps in the midwest...not being too extreme this past winter...although I know we had a lot of precip.
The temps all across the east and as far south as Florida have been quite cold this winter..
