Hockey fans ranting against NBC and their Olympic hockey coverage

I could absolutely care less about the NHL. I can honestly say that I've never watched an NHL game, in its entirety on tv (cable or network). I just have never cared.

BUT...there is something about young men and women laying it on the line for the glory of their country that is really endearing. In fact, after learning about some of our players and the Canadian players - I'm actually inclined to maybe watch a Blackhawk's game.

I personally think it would be an awful move for the NHL to not allow players to participate in the Olympics. The vast majority of Americans could give two hoots about the NHL.

Regardless of the channel they might just win some fans. Quit whining.

How can a league that was canceled and no one noticed a few years back, suddenly get all high and mighty. Like you, i've never watched a hockey game on TV and iwe're not alone - the TV statistics for some of the Stanley cup games from the past 5 years or so, have been astoundingly pathetic, hell i didn't even know there was an NHL team in Columbus, Ohio. But i'm inclined to give Hockey another shake. I had forgotten how fast it was, and how quickly goal strength can shift from one team to the other. as for the Olympics, Let em play - they are going too anyway.

Now the IOC has another hockey controversy-
The will investigate what happened after the Canadian women's hockey team beat the US women for the gold medal-

according to reports, after the women went to the locker room, they returned to the ice and skated around drinking beer from cans and champaign from bottles, while some smoked cigars.

Maybe not the best ettiquette from these players, especially considering a few are under the legal age of 19 in Canada. But if the IOC ultimately strips them of their medals (which won't even be suggested would happen), or more realistically bans them from the Closing Ceremony and/or kicks them out of Vancouver, then that would reke of the ultimate hypocracy from this organization! Consider how many Olympic participants dope themselves up or get caught cheating with no more than a slap on the wrist to show for it.

Very similar to certain NCAA programs getting off scott free for much more serious infractions than most mid-major programs. It doesn't matter what the organization is, it's the same nonsense no matter what!

I'm sure this controversy is getting more play from our puritanical factions then in Canada. I kind of like their moxie. I wonder if Prez. Clinton watched this and if so was he drooling?
