The Captain Morgan post got me thinking...and I don't want to work on Grad School things...

Which athletes out there now donate a great deal?
who are the ones that spend all their money on helping others?

Dikembe Mutombo for sure for me, but I was just wondering if others had personal favorites or things that they thought were impressive.

the negative post can be next (dibs Allen Iverson )
Gloria: Who's side are you on?
Jay: She's my daughter, you're my wife. Let's remember what's important, there's a football game on today

    Albert Pujols.

Started his own charitable organization, aptly named the pujols foundation, to assist those with downs syndrome.

      Counter arguement
      Derek Lee

he is i believe the primary (like 75%) donor to research for a rare form of ocular cancer that runs in his family...granted he's doing this because his daughter had it...but i'm sure the other families suffering appreciate this.

Also, Tiger Woods donated to Obama to start a educational program for schools that teaches boys to use their heads not fists. We did it at the Boys and Girls club and it was very cool...so thanks Tiger

Many top level pros donate huge amounts to charities and good causes but
DO NOT run to the press and tell them all about it....
Athletes like Chris Bosh and Cal Ripken, Jr. have given millions to charities and decline to go in front of the cameras just to boast about it.

Jim Thome is very well known for donating his Time & Money - they talked about it all the time on the Score radio, especially around the time of his trade to LA.

my brother (firefighter) got a call to his house in Hinsdale...his wife burnt some food and set off their alarms, etc.
he was grateful for their help and gave them all tickets to a Sox game
