one simple question... What the hell was Bill Belichick thinking....

For those of you who did not watch it, The patriots were up by 6 with 2:08 to go on their own 28. Needing the 30 yard line for first down, which would all but seal up the win, the Patriots went for it. Brady completed the pass, but it was ruled the receiver bobbled and then regained possession behind the first down line. Because Belichick had used his last timeout on 4th down prior to deciding to gamble, and the play occurred prior to the 2 minute warning, it could not be challenged. Thus, this gave Payton Manning the ball with 2:00 to go ON HIS OWN 30 YARD LINE! Manning, being Manning, then led to Colts to a one point win.

As I said earlier... What the hell was Bill Belichick thinking....

Belichick was feeling a lil insufficient and wanted to prove himself apparently.

He may have been worried that Manning was going to march down the field and eat up all 2 minutes if they punted. So if you weigh the situation 3 outcomes:

    1. Punt and they get the ball ontheir 20? ish. MAnning walks down the field and wins it in 2 minutes
    2. go for it don't get it, they score quickly we have a minute or so to score
    3. go for it and get it and win

terrible choice...but i can kinda see his logic....not his best choice. Belichick is just overthinking with that one.

good win Colts, as a full fledged bears fan, I can say...Peyton Manning is a beast and I'm hoping the Colts do well (ugh...need to shower now)
Gloria: Who's side are you on?
Jay: She's my daughter, you're my wife. Let's remember what's important, there's a football game on today

Belichick's ego got in the way. Overthought it for sure.

      No sympathy from me, though.

If Faulk does not bobble the ball and gets the first down the game is over and NE wins.

I have a feeling Belichick wanted to see how Indy would react/play a short yardage 4th down play. Lots of football to still play but you have to think these two teams will play again. I really think there was more to this then just making a dumb decision.

        Time might tell.
