Local kid wins $20,000 halftime contest

Peter Miller (Peoria Christian High School Class of 2009, and a freshman at Northwestern College in Minneapolis, MN) had a pretty nice day on Saturday.

Wearing his Peoria Christian Soccer t-shirt, Peter was selected for the halftime contest at their college football game....a contest that's been held since 2002 at football games and nobody has ever won yet!

The rules required throwing a pass from the opposite end of the field, then punting, and the ball has to stay on the field and NOT cross the goal line with the punt.

Then the ball was "T'ed" up and he had to kick a field goal.

The prize was his full year's tuition...over $20,000!!!!!!

if the combined pass and punt distance crosses the goal line you lose, but if it doesn't get within the 10-15 yard line, then you have a 20-25+ yard FG to kick, something likely not one college kid in 50 can do...
Plus NWC is not a school full of jocks, most are a little on the opposite end of the spectrum...if you wish to call them dorks, then fine, but I've met plenty and I think they're all pretty decent kids.

After reviewing the official definition of "dork" I stand corrected. Dork is probably the wrong word here. I like your "opposite end of the spectrum" better...... But I'm still surprised it took 7 years for someone to do this.
