The point I think Hank is making is that half the guys going in now cheated with steroids, but Pete got all his numbers and records honestly and with only his effort and God-given abilities.
To exclude Pete when we are voting on guys like Clemens, McGwire, etc...is a travesty.
But then that brings up the same argument on Squeaky.......

That is Great coming from a Great player like Hammering Hank! I loved seeing him hit those line drive round trippers! He went about playing his game in a honest and quite way Players today should mode their games and play like Hank and Pete Hank is so right, Pete belongs in the H of F
Do not get me wrong about Hank, one of my old time favorite MLB moments was when he broke Babe Ruth's record but in his days they had jars of greenies to munch on. (greenies were little speed pills). Today's players just took it to the next level wrong or right.
Rose the player should be in the Hall of Fame but how do you include him while excluding the manager Pete Rose.
T, Squeaky was a player when he committed his transgression. There is a difference.

My main point here is that Squeaky has admitted from the start that what he had done was wrong. Pete Rose has only admitted his mistakes recently. I think that Pete Rose needs to be more of an ambassador to the game before he is allowed into the HOF. If Pete takes that step, then I say let him into the HOF.
Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

It's easy to exclude Rose the player versus Rose the Manager SFP. Rose should be voted in based on his honest and clean record as a player. Managers are voted in seperately as a manager.... and NO way he belongs in as a manager.
I agree with your statement about Squeaky. Totally different scenario than Rose.
I would let him in the HOF - same with Barry Bonds, Clemens, McGuire and the others that the sports writers are condemning -- actually I wouldnt even allow writers to vote any more - just go by that committee that picks players that ran out of eligiblity on the ballot. Alot of fans grew up watching those guys play and now they tell their kids - what ? My heros were crumbs ?
