  • White Sox close to deal for Jake Peavy

I would hate to see the White Sox trade pitching phenom Aaron Poreda, but they are close to a deal for Jake Peavy. He has to agree to the trade.

The trade has been agreed on by the 2 teams- Jake Peavy to the White Sox for pitching prospects Clayton Richard and Aaron Poreda (the White Sox top minor league pitching prospect). There may be other prospects invovled, too.

The deal now awaits Peavy's approval, as he has a clause in his contract that requires his approval for any trade.

      Peavy says "NOOOOOOOOO"

apparently him and his family like the weather in San Diego more than Chicago....can't say I blame him

Being a White Sox fan, I have to say I am not too disappointed. I hated to see them trade Richard, who I think will be a solid starter, and Poreda, who I think will be a star.

        Other pitchers will be available.

          too much for not enough

I always feel like trading your top prospect never gets you anywhere. Need to build up the prospects...especially the pitchers

I agree with this comment 95% of the time but the ability to get one of the best pitchers in baseball in his prime to help you win it all for top prospects is a great deal. Prospects way to many times blow out their arm and Peavy has the mechanic and discipline to be a front line starter for a decade plus more. I'd have pulled that trigger any day if I was the GM of the White Sox.
