I'm excited but cautiously....we still need some pieces. I also hope we don't pay too much for Pace...his better days are behind him and he's injury prone now.

This is a strange move by the Bears if you have followed them like I have for 40 some years....its not like them to pull a big trade and actually get a QB.

I like it...hope it works out.

Wow! I hope a 25 year old quarterback is not at a point where his better days are behind him! I think he will do well here.

I am pleasantly surprised they pulled this off, but like you said, it is not like them. Maybe the pressure of winning a Super Bowl is finally getting to them!

now now now Big Mike... Don't rush things here... I believe that Cutler is still on his rookie contract.

time to start liking Jay Cutler. haven't been a big fan w/ the recent "crybaby"-gate. Also, he always looks like he's lazy and doesn't have his head in the game.

Don't get me wrong...I'm MORE than happy with him. But someone's going to need to kick him in the a** and tell him to quit his whining if that starts...don't think Lovie's the guy to do that.

                    Oh, and Orlando Pace!?!?!?!??!?!
chalk up another hall of famer for the Bears

My guess is Jerry Angelo made this possible because of the Lions. The lions are a pretty good team (offensively) except for teh QB position. As soon as the Lions thoguht they might get Cutler, I bet the bears put it all on the line for him.

                    Go Bears

I did hear one radio analyst mention that Cutler's contract is likely a lot less than what the Bears would pay for the 1st rounders they gave up. Hopefully they use that "savings" to get a receiver..

i think John Clayton had an article about that.

how Rookie's get big contracts in football and stuff

didn't read it, too busy soking up the Cutler situation

Trade talks involving Jay Cutler have exposed flaws in the rookie salary structure, writes John Clayton.

Well the main thing for Bears fans is that they have Cutler and when contract time comes around, they will have priority to negotiate. That being said, if Cutler has a good year, he will be in a position to break the McCaskey's bank.

I did not know he grew up as a Bears fan. Maybe that helped a little with the Bears getting him.

He grew up in southern Indiana, in the small town of Santa Claus, Indiana.

He was a high school star at Heritage Hills High School in Lincoln City, Indiana, and then went to college at Vanderbilt.
His last year at Vanderbilt, his favorit receiver was Earl Bennett, who the Bears drafted last year.
One source says he has never missed a game due to injury in high school, college or the NFL. He started Denvers last 5 games in 2006, then started all 16 games the last 2 seasons.

His career record is only 17-20 (2-3 in 2006, 7-9 in 2007, and 8-8 in 2008 ), but his passing numbers and career quarterback rating are better than any quarterback in Bears history. He has never played in a playoff game, but he was named to the Pro Bowl this past year.
                              http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Cut...rican_football)

Cutler is a type 1 diabetic (aka juvenile diabetes) and requires multiple insulin shots each day.
Cutler coming to the Bears gives Bears fans a much bigger reason to look forward to this next season.

Here is a link to a YouTube video of Cutler leading his high school team to the Indiana Class3A championship.-
Denver Broncos QB Jay Cutler wins the Indiana 3A State Championship for Heritage Hills in 2000 with a trick play in overtime against Zionsville.

He is the quarterback, #6, and he also plays on defense. The game-winning play in overtime is a gimmick play where Cutler throws a pass to his wide receiver, but it is really a lateral. Then Cutler runs wide to the opposite side and receives a pass that leads to the winning touchdown. That play starts around 5:20 of the video if you don't want to watch the entire highlight video.

Speaking of trick plays- YouTube has a lot of fascinating trick plays in football. Here is one that takes a little guts to run--
Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

                              and another similar one-
The greatest trick football play ever deisgned. Not sure it would work at anyother level of play, but at least it worked here.
