  • Ricketts buy Cubs for $900 million

CHICAGO -- The billionaire Ricketts family has been selected by Tribune Co. as the winning bidder for the hard-luck Chicago Cubs. The family said in a statement Thursday night that it??™s looking forward to working with the Tribune and Major League Baseball to close the transaction promptly.

The bid is worth about $900 million, according to the Web site of the Chicago Tribune, which also is owned by Tribune Co. The sale would include Wrigley Field and a 25 percent interest in a regional sports network, the newspaper reported.

The selection of Tom Ricketts, a member of the founding family of TD Ameritrade Holding Corp., and chief executive of InCapital LLC, was first reported by the Chicago Sun-Times??™ Web site.

They got a lot more than the estimated value of the Cubs. Wrigley Field seems like more of a liability. That piece has to be expensive to maintain.

So is this Ricketts a loser or does he just like losers? Maybe he'll buy GM next.
JL are not respunsible foor the string of injunrys....

        NO mark Cuban...sad day

I would have liked to have seen him on the 1st base side right by the dugout yelling at the managers for pitching in on players

        he's fun to watch
Gloria: Who's side are you on?
Jay: She's my daughter, you're my wife. Let's remember what's important, there's a football game on today
