  • worst loss since UT-Arlington in Mo Era

Just unbelievably bad....warren or not. This team is awful and is headed for lower tier of valley yet again. I've had it with the kool-aid drinking. Time to be realistic people. Losing to Summit league teams is unacceptable at any time.

    1. We've shown we can't play against a pressure zone D
    2. Our defense is bad
    3. Our offensive post play is very bad

To me, it's not that we lost, but how we lost. We looked unprepared and not excited to play at all. This team has no shooters and Sam M. needs to start guarding either the other teams two or three because he can't guard the opposing point guard.

Also, David has no right starting tomorrow.

Agreed. I don't know what happened with this team, but they are NOT playing the same type of offense we have been in the past. How can the leadership of this team said they were excited about how good the team could be? This is not good basketball, losing by double digits to a team like this. Injuries should not be an excuse. They aren't at the pro level and should never be at this level. All of the player on this team should be better than the players they played today.

Lubbock Christian is the worst loss in the JL era.

This one seems worst because we look like a lost team with no one on the same page and no one wanting to be a leader.

If this continues, even with a return of Warren we will be no better then a possible 5-7 in the Valley.

JL has a lot of thinking to do and needs to right this ship, Immediately.

Losing by bigtime double digits to UMKC is a joke.

And I truely believe that all BU fans have a right tonight to vent about this loss. Yes it is only the 3rd game but losing like this is unacceptable. Ill tell you what if this were college football and a coach lost a game to a team like UMKC that coach would not see tomorrow.

chitown, couldn't agree with you more. This was very bad in all phases of the game. After the Florida loss I posted about our need for shooters. PH challenged me alomg the lines of we had shooters. I guess I have to ask ph what do you think about our shooting now. I have not given up on this group yet but if we don't get some confidence in our shooting we are looking at a bleak winter on the hilltop. Listening to Dick V on Comcast he called it "GREAT SLIPPAGE" He said we do not practice like that but when the lights go on we slip very badly. He also made a comment that "the tape will not be fun to watch". Hello Dick I didn't that was fun to watch.Least its warm where you are. Maybe we can come back tomorrow but we need to improve in so many areas its gonna be tough.

Agreed on all counts...Collins is regressing again and we can't hit the broad side of the barn or run any kind of offense besides the weave. Bagheads will be out soon in P-town if this continues. Win the next two down here to save some face for our school. Just very embarrassing on multiple levels.

i much as I have never been a fan of sam singh, he needs to be the one starting. Collins could be a good player off the bench

Even Egolf looked more focused than Collins today...

                  Collins plays like a Nancy....he's 7'0" tall but plays like he's 6'2"...

And no offense to Sam M. but he didn't have any business being on the floor today...

Everytime he was out top defending the UMKC coach cleared the lane and forced an iso and Sam got beat every single time, yet we continuously allowed them to do it...and no, it was not just Sam, but he was a glaring weakness...Especially when you had him, Eddren, and Sam S. on the floor at the same time, basically laying all our offense and defense on Dodie and Theron.

I thought Theron played well until he got into foul trouble, and Chris played well in spurts...other than that, not too much to be happy about...

I can now w/ great confidence say that we are going to have to change the system...this team is not a great 3-pt shooting team nor will they be, and they certainly can not play tight man to man defense as proven by all the layups we have given up the first 3 games...

The sooner the coach realizes this, the better...If Sam is still trying to play guys into their shorts and we're still jacking up 20+ threes a game in March we will undoubtedly be near the bottom third of the Valley.

At some point the coaching staff will need to take a long look in the mirror and go back to the drawing board and realize that we need to play to our strengths by minimizing our weaknesses, and that is by driving the ball to the basket, taking less 3's, and by changing to a zone implemented team, or at least not playing guys so tight that every opponent takes one step off the dribble and blows by them.

The excuse of being young and inexperienced does not fly...UMKC is younger...and the excuse of our guys not being ready will not fly...they should've been fully prepared to play today...

Sometimes its the players failing the system...sometimes its the system that is corrupt...

What we really need to ask is, which one is it?

I just can't think of any scenario where we get into post season without winning the valley tourney.

I'm just trying to figure out if this is rock bottom. I eliminated postseason play from my thinking when I saw the preseason performances.

You guys said everything I wanted to. No shooters period! SM needs to be set up and he should not be putting the ball on the floor and shooting. His D was horrible! How much did they score on him?

On the bright side if TB starts to finish he'll be lights out. WE looked servicable and I wish he played sooner. I would like to see a line up of:
                          DD
                          CR
                          TW
                          WE
                          SS

With EM, TB, DC and SM coming off the bench..

Not much I can add, despite seeing this game in person. First, thanks to everyone for a rational and civil discussion and criticism.

But from my perspective, as bad as Bradley played, this team will be much better than they showed tonight. Sometimes it's hard to explain, but everything that could go wrong, did tonight. And I do believe Andrew would have made a significant difference. Most teams can't lose they best player and best shooter, and not suffer significantly. Things fell apart tonight when we couldn't make an outside shot, and then UMKC went to a zone that worked so well, they came out of it. With a couple baskets early, the game could have been different.
This BU team beat a team in UIC that was much better than this UMKC team, so I think we just saw the worst-case scenario tonight when everything goes wrong.

OK, there's no way either Platteville or UMKC had better players than BU, because, after all they play in a lower division or a lesser conference. So the question must be asked, which teams were better coached? I think that's pretty obvious.

I still think Jim and his staff can coach, but they've done such an absolutley bad job of recruiting to their system that a season long (or two) struggle appears inevitable. You have to have some real studs to play the way he wants, and he doesn't have them.

I believed the hype from everyone about the new guys and how well they all played this summer. I really would prefer not to see the term "really athletic" used to refer to BU players anymore. I think it's just a nice way of describing fast guys/good jumpers who have marginal basketball skills. Great athletes don't necessarily make even good basketball players.
