Take Eldridge off ISU, Stinnett off CU, Tatum off SIU two years ago, Falker off SIU last year, Coleman of UNI lat year, and so on. Of course depth is important. But some players production is easier to replace. To say that injuries are not a factor is IMO just not correct. Every team has them, but the severity of the injuries (both in terms of the actual injuries and who the injuries are to) plays a big part in how teams do.
Didn't seem to hurt Drake and Josh Young when he missed games last season. DEPTH!

I am glad you like my avatar. You should like it.
I have to admit I get a little snicker out of the comparison of losing Alex Rubin or Nick Evans to injury.....to BU losing Andrew Warren to injury!!

Rubin and Evans started a combined ZERO games for their teams last year and scored a total of 28 points between them!
Try and keep up. This has already been covered.
Warren is the top returning scorer BU has and a teamleader as well, the ONLY player on the squad who has MORE than a single season of experience, and one of only two players on the entire squad who has more than 15 starts in his career for BU.
Well that's bad class balance then. That's bound to happen when you bring in so many JUCO's and then have players run off----I mean leave on their own accord. And why do you need MORE than a single season of experience. Maniscalco has played in 40 plus games in college, and Dunson has played in who knows how many games with his worldly travels.
I should say the loss of Warren for Bradley is nowhere near comparable to SIU losing Evans or ISU losing Rubin, and to make such a comparison shows either a little lack of understanding or an intention desire to deceive.
      This has already been covered.
Warren's loss would be more like ISU losing Eldridge, and like Indiana State a few years ago when they lost David Moss when they were 8-0 and ranked #1 in RPI, then subsequently lost their next 11!
Warren and Eldridge aren't exactly in the same ballpark though I am sure you would like to think that.

If OE goes down, we have Champ Oguchi and others who would step up. That's why they call it depth. Some teams have it, some teams don't.

Now I am going to read sportsillustrated.com or find billy packer and see what he thinks about all of this.

I won't repeat what has been posted before, unless you want. But ISU has had more jucos than Bradley, and more than any other MVC team over the past 3 or 4 years.

And when it has happened it has screwed up our class balance too. Thanks Porter!

          • nice try, but the lack of depth at PG and in the paint may yet expose ISU's class balance problems before this and next year is up.
Tell me again how a 4-0 team with 2 road wins can still have an RPI of only 170??
the ultrasoft schedule is the only thing between 4-0 and exposed.

Well come December we get 2 more "paint" guys back. And probably another PG soon after that. (with Phillips, Holloway, and Shipley now, how many PG's does a team really need anyways?

Good God Tornado, how many times do I or others here have to say this:

"THERE IS NO VALUE IN LOOKING AT THE RPI THIS EARLY MAN"

By the way ISU's Sagarin rating is 71

Actually New Mexico got an At-Large bid in 1999 while having an RPI of 74 (and an SOS of 157).

                  • so it's something that hasn't happened since 1999, huh....so how likely is it in 2009?

                    • I don't think any Valley teams have to worry about At-large bids these days. Present company included.
