Who would you take off one of those teams and replace them with?
This list is very similar to Poneman's list from Late Oct:
-
I realize that, and it's similar to the ChicagoHoops.com Top 10 list--
If I had to say, I might argue that Angus Brandt doesn't deserve to be 2nd team All State based solely on AAU performances. We all know those can be quite deceptive, and he has not played a single game of high school ball in the US yet.
I also think John Mills might be a little overrated as a 1st team All-Stater.
Why isn't Joe Bertrand on the list? From people I know who have seen all these guys, they think Bertrand is more skilled now than Paul, Smith, or Colvin. Those guys may have a great upside, but All State designation should be based on what they will do now.
I also think these All State teams should be broken down into Class 1A-2A, and Class 3A-4A, since that is how they are named in March. In that case, some of the downstate guys like Jordan Prosser would be recognized.

amen....you'd have thought they would have learned from their error last year!!!
...last year the very instant Kyle Rowley and Aziz N'Diaye enrolled at Lake Forest Academy, the articles started calling them the #1 and TOP recruits in the entire state...the evaluators basing their ranking only on word of mouth and possibly some AAU play.
Now we are a year down the road....and where Michael Dunigan, Lewis Jackson, and even Kevin Dillard are wowing people at the DI level, with their skills...
Rowley is only getting 10-13 minutes and struggling....and N'Diaye is at juco and surely ought to be dominating, but instead is also struggling, although he's his team's 4th leading scorer.
So in retrospect, nothing yet has supported that they were the top players in Illinois in 2008 where many had ranked them.
I agree that some of these big kids immediately get moved to the top of the rankings before they've even shown their skills.
