God only knows how much I hate the PJS, but I really dont see anything wrong with KW's article.jmho
    Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final

???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

That term implies that they only cover the team on occasion and spend very little time doing it. KW goes to almost every game, and Dave Reynolds goes to literally every game. On top of that, they attend every press conference and write multiple stories about the team each week. That hardly fits the "drive-by" media label.

Hate the paper and its writers if you wish, but at least don't unfairly label them something they're not.
OK. Forget "drive by media", in their sports reporting anyway, just keep it as a "rag".
What part of illegal don't you understand?

I can't dispute most of your post, because I don't know enough/can't remember enough about those situations.

However, I have said before and I'll say again that I don't believe the PJStar ever reported anything inaccurate in regards to the Ruffin arrest. Yes, there was a time gap between the first story and when all the information came out, but you seriously can not blame that on the paper. The police only allowed the paper to view the first page of the police report, refusing to let them see the second page when the first story was printed. The additional information that came to light later was on the second page of the report, which had to be obtained by filing a complaint under the Freedom of Information Act, which can take a few days to go through. Still, nothing that was reported was ever "inaccurate." I know, because I also reported on the story (not for the PJStar obviously) and read the entire police report myself. In fact I copied nearly the entire thing word for word and probably still have my notes laying around somewhere.

You're entitled to believe what you want about the PJStar and the media in general. Hate them all you want if that's what you desire. I just really wish people on this board wouldn't make claims and jump to conclusions that simply aren't true. That's all I ask.
