bad loss for the valley. This will make it more interesting when we play UMKC.

Guess I feel a little surprised a "Conference" message board is lop-sided for a particular team. Then again - good thing I don't go there often.

Oh come on Shockers! You can't be losing games like this! And at home on top of that!
Something tells me we will have three or four teams rise to the top, and the rest will be utter crap. But that may actually help us get multiple bids in that sometimes two or three teams with stellar records at the top of a mediocre conference look better to the committee than one team running away with things in a decent conference like Drake did last year.
I seem to remember two years ago when four teams were in NCAA contention in the Colonial Athletic Conference while the rest of the conference was very mediocre to downright bad. Two teams received bids that year (VCU and Old Dominion), and VCU beat Duke in the first round, just weeks after Bradley beat them in the Bracketbuster. Ditto for the 1993-94 season when the Valley was ranked 13th. The conference was still very mediocre, but consisted of three strong 20+ win teams at the top in Tulsa, SIU and Bradley. Bradley received an NIT bid based on a slightly weaker schedule, but SIU won the automatic bid and Tulsa earned an at-large bid. So sometimes quality is much more important than quantity to the committee.
Irregardless, the Valley can still make a big statement tomorrow night when SIU plays Duke on a neutral court. I got a good feeling about this game even with SIU not expected to contend for the Valley title this year. Let's hope I'm right and SIU pulls off a big win on ESPN2 tomorrow night!

Can someone flip a switch and turn the lights out?

Well, that's easy. We have to root for our fellow Valley teams until the conference season starts. A bad non-conference season will affect all of the Valley teams in a bad way.

you still frequent Valley Talk?
all the hate and name calling defines it as one of the most juvenile and hostile places to be, plus it seems to be off line more than it is on.

Wichita State did not sell out in their game vs. UMKC....nor did they in either of their other two home games thus far.
Their attendance of 10282 is only 248 more than Bradley had last week, and they've run several ads and releases trying to sell tix.
(their sellout capacity is 10478 and that was the attendance of all their home games last year)
Saint Louis also lost at home to Kent State, and Ruben Cotto, Brett Thompson, and Kyle Cassity all went scoreless...as they got scoring from only 6 players,
AND ONLY 6434 showed up!!.......there were well over 7000 there to see the previous game against a DII opponent.
BTW-- Shang Ping also went scoreless for Emporia vs. Kansas State...as did UIC's "Eurobigs", Buttell and Ignjatovic.
also-- Nick Fruendt won't be redshirting as he played one minute last night.

Expect the Shox attendance to keep going down unless Marshall gets better fast....their fans don't exactly have patience when it comes to those types of things now that they've been used to Turgeon...
I think Marshall is figuring out that this isn't exactly a cake walk like he was going through w/ Winthrop.

I lurk over there quite a bit, mainly because I don't have much else to do and I am interested to see how all the other fans in the conference view the valley programs. I don't post much at all though, mainly because most of the time any serious post or thread does turn into name calling, and smack talking. I'm not saying that stuff isn't ok or not fun, but I just get tired of it after a few posts, so I don't carry on in the back and forth stuff as much as some of those guys, but they apparently like it so that's fine with me, I'll just abstain from it.DUBL R 1
