One has to think, hope that the "veterans" like Sam M and TW will come around so to me, this bodes well that its them and not the newbies struggling. IOW we KNOW what they CAN do...they just need to start doing it.
I still don't know what to expect from DC. I think we have seen what we will get from him. Lets HOPE he can get better every game.
Not sure if this is the case but I think many times veterans can "think" to much opposed to just playing and reacting. Eventually those veterans will just start playing and when they do you'll see a much better TEAM.
Sam is going to learn all the newbies tendencies and hopefully the TO's will decrease.
Then again maybe I have no dea what I'm talking about
DC is not a huge difference maker, and I'm OK with it. The fact that DC is a potential offensive threat (unlike MS that teams often ignored) puts us in a better position.
Sam M is the sort of guy, hard worker, smart.. that makes you think all-conference as a senior. Hopefully the wisdom of experience (knowing your own physical limitations and using your smarts as a difference maker) will come to Sammy before then

I don't think Sam will every be an all-conference guard. It doesn't mean he won't be an invaluable member of our team, whether it's in a starting or reserve role.
I agree that MS last year was not an offensive presence, but his work on the boards and defense were. I am afraid we will miss that this year. So far, SS has been a physical presence on the defensive end, the other 5s not so much. We need the 5s to play defense and rebound 1st.
At this point Sam is BU's best post player. Two or three years ago, no one would have thought this to be possible or probable. I like SS, but it says alot for the guys they've recruited to play inside.

Yeah...His game has a very, very limited upside, but he is the only option that gives us any degree of consistency in the post right now.
Collins certainly has more upside to his game, but he brings no consistent presence or effort from night to night, half to half, or even minute to minute in games, it seems.
Egolf and Thompson were being counted on to develop into our inside presence for next year and beyond...but here they are both in their 2nd year in the program and they are currently options #10 and 11 off the bench...certainly not what we were hoping for.
There are certainly a lot of games left for all of these guys to improve...but we are horribly undermanned at the post position this year if we continue to get nothing more than "walk on minutes" from Egolf and Thompson...and we'd be faced with even bigger question marks for next year down low, unless one of them steps up and shows that they could be counted on to handle a much bigger role...

Well said! I said it in another thread, but these next 3-4 games are extremely important for the entire team and coaching staff to see who produces in game situations. Hopefully, the players in question are given the opportunity!

3 games in 3 days next week...I have to assume that WE and AT will get a chance to earn some extended minutes somewhere in that stretch.
This will be a very, very important week for Egolf. He needs to show something in these game minutes that could earn him a place in the rotation going forward. Les is likely going to shorten his rotation and settle on a group of 7 or 8 guys that are going to be playing nearly all of the meaningful minutes in the Valley schedule...so this week may be Egolf's best chance to make a case in game situations that he belongs somewhere in that group of 7 or 8...

WE has had lots of opportunities, including meaningful minutes early on in his freshman year. AT has not had as much time in actual games, but has spent 1 1/2 years with the coaching staff if you count summer workouts. I think they've had opportunities to show their stuff, it's just not happening for them.

I'm not sure if "early on in his freshman year" is a true measure of his talent and ability to contribute. If so, then I hope Norris and Thompson start to contribute quickly or they may not get another chance!

I think it takes more time for our bigger players to develope then it does our guards; I am one of the persons that has always liked Sam Singh because I saw him play in the summer league when he arrived at BU and he was healthy, I still think Egolf and Thompson have a lot of potential, hopefully they understand that if they keep working to improve that they will be rewarded with playing time. I also believe that Collins,Egolf, and Thompson need to be a lot more physical in the paint .
All WE or AT need is a game in which they can produce....get some boards....a couple blocks...some pts....just get something positive from a D1 game and get their confidence going! The light will come on...right now they both look like they do not want to make a mistake and when you play that way all you do is make mistakes!
