  • Bad news for UNI- Stout breaks wrist

It's his left wrist, but still a serious injury that will take time to recover from. Tough luck. It is just about a year since their other big man Eric Coleman broke his elbow in a summer game.

Don't they have any doctors in Iowa?
When Coleman broke his elbow, they were told in Iowa to have surgery, then they went to Mayo Clinic in Minnesota and the opinion was 180 degrees the opposite.

When Stout breaks his wrist (a very common type of fracture) they don't even want to see anyone in Iowa, they want to go straight to Mayo Clinic.
"...to see a top wrist consultant at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn., on Tuesday or Wednesday to see if surgery is required.

"We just want an opinion to see if there is anything specific we need to do with it," Bishop said."

If given the option, I'd take the three hour drive and see a specialist at the Mayo Clinic.

If you have one of the top specialists in the country, as Mayo does, that is 2.5 hours away, and you have a student-athlete that you have invested thousands of dollars into...wouldn't you want the best and most accurate diagnosis?

In Iowa there are great doctors, and the U of I hospital in Iowa City is great too...but when you have Mayo...you gotta go to Mayo!

Most of the doctors in Iowa are veterinaries and don't have a lot of experience working on wrists.

I am sure Stout will make sure he sets up his return for ISU.

Just like Dotzler (of Creighton) is planning his return for ISU.

In fact, almost everyone sets their return date for ISU.

You don't believe me, I know an ISU fan who swears it to be true.

                      Thanks DC.

Hmmm, 6 weeks in a cast. Gonna need some time to recondition body, then begin practice, etc....

The MVC must be hard at work configuring schedules to time his return for ISU.
