  • Favorite Opening Game Memories

As I'm sitting at my desk counting the minutes away until our first game this season, I've been trying to think back to my favorite opening games...I've been at most of them from 1991-2000, then again the past 3 years. For me it has to be the game against DePaul in 2006 where we simply rained the 3-ball down on them all night. That crowd was incredible and it was our first chance to see the new look 4-guard offense that dominated the season.

I also remember back in 1993 when my grandfather took me to the opening game. I don't remember much except how well Anthony Parker played in his first game...I was only 10, but I believe I remember him having 15 and 7. My grandfather spent most of the ride home talking about how special "that young 'en is gonna be."

Hopefully tonight will rank high in the "good" memories!

What are you favorite opening games?

JL's first season the win on a Friday night versus Pepperdine was a lot of fun. The rest of that season wasnt but that night Carver was rocking.

That night was pretty special and yes- the crowd was rocking! I even remember J.L. jumping up and down on the sideline.

That was a really fun win.

Another opening win that was a lot of fun was Hawk's senior year against Univ. New Orleans. Billed as a showdown vs. Ladel Eckles, Hawk took him to school infront of Don Nelson and a slew of other NBA scouts. (by the way, don't tell anyone, but we got whipped by Marathon Oil in our last pre-season game leading up to this season opener)

But, My recent favorite has to have been our road win at DePaul (minus POB and Will F) in 05-06. Not a lot of our roadtrips have turned out as fun, but this one did.
