I was also at that game (hs freshman approx) and I remember thinking this won't work because they had another NBA talent on that team and I think he ate us up. Trivia question: remember the guys name? They also had a pretty tall center who had a good night. Bird couldn't have had too many assists because he was completely denied the ball and their point guard controlled things.
Carl Nix.................. and didn't he score 33 that night?
Steph Curry's younger bro may be even better than him. After 6 games he's averaging 22 ppg. He brought his team a victory against Geo. Mason last night in OT ala older bro.......
Birthplace: Charlotte, North Carolina Father: Dell Curry Mother: Sonya Curry College experience: Freshman Wait, isn't Stephen Curry a junior? Yes, yes he is, but his younger brother, Seth, is a freshman at Liberty University...
I can still see Bird just standing in the corner with Carl and Harold standing next to him. Nicks put on quite a show that night.
If anyone is interested- someone on Ebay is selling a program from the Bradley-Indiana State game Feb. 25, 1978. This was not the game where Dick Verace devised the "Bird Cage" defense (that was 1979), but is the previous season, the last season Joe Stowell coached Bradley.
This game featured a matchup of the 2 top scorers in the MVC that year, Bird and Bradley's Roger Phegley, in the last regular-season game for both teams. Indiana State won this game 74-68.
Phegley averaged 27.6 ppg that season, his senior year, but was 2nd to Larry Bird's average of 30.0 ppg in his junior season with Indiana State in 1977-78.

Yikes - Just read the comparison article and noticed that Seth Curry is playing for none other that Richie McKay at Liberty. It always amazes me how coaches land other jobs after leaving higher profile jobs under scrutiny (ala - Sampson from Oklahoma to Indiana).
Don't forget, that Duane Broussard is now an assistant under Steve Alford at New Mexico.
But the curse still follows him....their players are playing poorly,
New Mexico has lost to two Valley teams already this year,
and their 3-4 start against a really soft, cupcake-filled schedule
has them sitting with an RPI of 313 and SOS of 313.

I love the picture of Alex Mazeika (spelling please) on the cover. That guy turned out to be a pretty good center his last year at BU. He was automatic with that turn-around jumper on the baseline. When Phegley got hurt they found out that Alex could score! That's back when Wichita State had a great center (about a 7 footer) and Alex kept scoring over him time and again; and the look on the face of the WS center was priceless! I cannot remember the name of that guy? He was really good but I think he passed away very early in life. That was very sad. Any of you old guys like me remember his name??? I think Elmore was either his first or last name...

They had a great player named Lynwood "Cheese" Johnson................. but he's still alive.
Absolutely amazing finish by Curry against WVU. After having a HORRIBLE shooting game Curry scores 13 straight points for Davidson to lead his team back to a win against WVU.

After seeing him struggle the whole game, I almost knew he would shine if given a chance at the end of the game. Awesome player to watch!! I literally cannot wait until March because I expect more of his magic.

What a player Just took the game over What a fast release and how he knows how to get open and lose his defender or in some cases defenders. Best all around college player in years
There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!
