He could have matured more by playing 2 more years at BU.
Not sure how to take your comment to me Chico. Please explain!
There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!

I didn't realize I had to reiterate my opinion every time the subject of POB comes up. But, here it is again--

I know Patrick, and he is a great guy. He is not lazy. His personality is rather passive. That personality type doesn't translate well in the super-aggressive world of pro athletics. It can change, but not easily or quickly. These days, pro teams seem not to want to invest time and work into developing players. They want a kid to produce immediately, or they send them to the D-League or let them go to free agency. I believe POB will be a very good player somewhere, for a long time, and he'll make a lot of money.
I could give innumerable other examples of athletes who never reached their potential, or took a long time to do so because of similar issues. Anthony Parker, and even Hersey Hawkins were like this to an extent, early in their careers.
It's real easy for us experts to sit on our couches a rip a kid because he doesn't perform at the level of Shaquille O'Neal or Kobe Bryant, but it is by far the more common occurence, not the exception. There are hundreds of other 1st round players who had shorter careers than POB. I want to see him succeed, and I hope the Celts stick with him and give him the chance.
Recall that in their first 3 preseason games, I believe he was their leading rebounder, shot-blocker, and leading percentage shooter. So it's not as if he has never showed any evidence that he is capable of contributing.

If people want to have different opinions of him, I am fine with that. I really don't see why some want to keep re-starting new threads to say the same things over and over again.

And, by the way, I will again say that you are not correct in saying I attacked you. I did not. My post in the thread you are referring to was not directed at you other than to refute your use of a specific slang term that I thought was an extreme exaggeration.

I know the answer to that question... DC is the "man" on this board and I'm just another poster (that's one reason Rodney Dangerfield is my avatar). That's a fine way to treat people for you and probably the best way to run your life because in today's world sucking up to people in power will take you a long way; while treating those not in power poorly really doesn't matter. You should go far in the corporate world.

Haha, ok, GTD. Have your opinion, I suck up to succeed. Since you don't know me, have never met me, or anything like that that's a pretty fair statement. And DC's tone may have been negative, but you directly attack people... As evidenced by the post here. By the way, ask around campus about me and what I'm involved in and such, you might find your very wrong...

You made some pretty harsh statments about me while defending DC and you did not feel it was wrong even though you do not know me. You accussed me of something like being unfair to student's opinions in the classroom or some such garbage. I guess it is ok for you to make statements about people you do not know. You have much maturing to do. OK for you to make accusations about people you do not know. Nice double-standard. Another fine quality that will get you far, really it will as I witness it all the time. I am now ending this useless conversation. I have papers to grade...

Ok GTD, you're right, You hadn't started attacking people when those comments were made, I didn't want you to take it so personal, but I stand by the fact what I said was because of things you were saying about other posters, who happened to be DC, it could have been any one of the other poster's and I would have said the same thing. I'd be willing to venture you wouldn't have said those things about most posters too... BTW, to say I don't know anything about a profesor at BU while a student, probably isn't entirely correct.

As far as the POB situation goes, I do not think Patrick is lazy or does not work-hard, does anyone really think he was consistently great in college? He showed flashes in the tournament, and that got him drafted, if he doesn't make it in the pros, why is it that he's lazy.

Thanks Amckillip. I always thought POB was really up and down in college, and sometimes just dissappeared during games. He seems to be doing the same in the NBA. I could be wrong about the reason that is for sure. I have been wrong many times about many things and this could be another one. I think we are cool now, right?

For those questioning why POB has been inactive, Rivers made clear yesterday the reason, with the statement that POB has to "keep working":

The other side of the equation was the first deactivation of the season for Patrick O??™Bryant, who still is attempting to get up to speed.

???He just has to keep working,??? Rivers said. ???Sure there??™s a message in this, but it??™s not being sent by me. He??™ll have to play at our intensity and speed if he wants to play. It??™s a process for him to get there. He??™s a talented, skilled kid who can get more out of himself.??? . . .

Easy answer - No. You are not a "alum" if you only attend a school. But the saying , "once a Brave always a Brave" would be more appropriate in POB's situation.

Chico for the sake of the rest of us please just use the quote tool instead of asking us to re-read a post LOL.

BTW...I still do not know what the H word is unless you are talking about hate. I'm with you, it's not one of my favorite words. I prefer the L word in all its glory.

And! Once again, please explain. If you think I said or did something wrong, PUT IT OUT THERE. I am not sure what you are up to here my friend but if it is a shot at me speak up. But first I think you better go back yourself and reread #8.

SFP, I guess I'm not as computer wise as most people on this board. I have webtv and it's not as sophisticated as a regular computer. Besides I get tired reading the same thing over and over with all the quotes. I was referring to ph's post where he mentioned the DC haters.

Nobody said you said or did anything wrong. But you did mention POB's being well off and my point being the money part is always brought up when anyone thinks he should have stayed at BU. Not a shot, just an opinion.

Good point Grassman. I stand corrected. Hopefully, POB will be an Alum some day. But I do stand by everything else I said about the kid
