I'd like to point out that many in the band paid a substantial part of their own expenses to get to Michigan and Oakland,
and I know how hard that would have been for me in college. Thanks a bunch to them for making the experience great!

This is simply untrue. Not only did the university provide transportation and lodging for both trips, the kids in the band also received a daily stipend for food.

They also receive the same benefits whenever they travel for neutral site games and to the tournament in St. Louis every year.

Now it is possible back when the band first began to travel after Vroman's first few years that they did have to pay. However, the university now realizes that any credible program also has a band presence at these events.

You're right squirrel. The band and student sections were together in STL and talking with them, they told me that they had their transportation and lodging paid for. I'm gald they were there to rep. the University, but it's a pretty sweet gig for them nonetheless.

Seriously - how do you NOT remember much from that day?

I will NEVER forget it! I freshly recall every moment of it. From the time I woke... the anticipation, the game, the aftermath, the phone calls, the trip to the airport, at the airport, then back home - more phone calls. I can't wait to tell my grandkids about it. Wait a sec - I don't want to get old that quick. Then again... I AM old!

The MVC a few years back used to allow up to 40 kids to go, however, they switched to be in line with the NCAA regulations, which I believe is 28-30. BU still pays for an extra ten to go to St. Louis to lend vocal support, and the kids rotate between games.
