  • A Most Bizarre story of on-court violence

I saw this video this morning on CNN, and it blew me away.

During a summer game, a high school player, Coulter Vestal, (playing some AAU ball in the Kansas City area) had a minor shoving match with another
player, then on the way down court, the other guy clotheslines Coulter, cold-cocks him and knocks him out, then jumps on the
kid as he is laying unconscious on the floor and just pummels the kid with fist after fist to the face and only stops when a
couple of adults wrestle the thug off the comatose player lying on the floor.

Coulter's dad, Dale who is not only the AAU coach but also a very prominent and outstanding citizen who is actively involved
on the school board and other civic issues, is demanding that criminal charges be brought against the scumbag who attacked Coulter.

BOTH of these links have video links so that you can this this vicious attack for yourself:

But wasn't the Kermit Washington situation just one punch?

Here is a little more on this story.
The coach of the team with the kid that pummels the unconscious opponent explains that the violence was completely understandable and justified because the unconscious kid started it with some viscious elbowing (sarcasm).

This is a video clip, so you might not want to bother if you don't have high-speed-

One thing that stood out to me was the ref who stood there and raised his hand to call a foul on the kid who was throwing punches.
As the punches continued on the helpless, unconscious player, the ref still has his hand raised observing, but it's the parents running in from the sidelines that finally pull the thug off. Why wasn't the ref doing anything?

                OMG

I just don't know how much I can swallow of this story.

                OK, from the video clip...

Quote from reporter: One player pushes the other to the floor and starts punching.

Quotes from the Wichita Coach since he saw it as retaliation for hard fouls earlier in the game: "wasn't something he meant to do"; "like spur of the moment"; "in the heat"; "so that's what happened"; (and the kicker) "If you look at the WHOLE tape".

                OMG!

The kid was knocked unconscious and suffered a concussion.

IT WAS OBVIOUS FROM THE FIRST PUNCH AND THEN THROW DOWN!

First the punch - then the Take Down - then as the guy lied unconscious he gets drilled with 4 more blows!

                WHAT IN THE WORLD?!?!?!?!?!?!

So the reporter softens the story by saying 'one player pushes one player to the floor'. Are you kidding me? The player was OBVIOUSLY dazed from the first punch, then clotheslined and THROWN to the floor. Once hitting (his head on) the floor, it is quite OBVIOUS to see the player is OUT COLD - 'dead legs' and motionless body!

OMG - Wichita coach says it wasn't something he meant to do. SO WHAT WAS HE MEANING TO DO??? Give him a kiss? He meant to beat the guys arse! Oh, and we NEED to look at the WHOLE tape???? (hello jerkie, ever heard of Rodney King?!)

And as the guy lies there unconscious, (the apparant victim in this whole situation) 'in the heat' of it all gets to land 4 more punches to 'finish the spur of the moment'.

                'So that's what happened'

OK, I am gonna go to the bathroom and puke over this whole thing and pray to God I never witness this happening to one of my own because I have no idea what I would mean to do, in the spur of the moment, and in the heat of it all... and when it is over - well, that's what happened.

Here is another story where the coach of the kid who is the thug says the other kid started it, and that the dad is really low class for releasing the home video for all to see.
Then he explains away the thug pummelling the unconscious kid by saying
"Unfortunately, the other boy couldn't fight."

But as of current news, the DA still has declined to file charges
One week after he released a home video of his son being pummeled during a youth basketball tournament, Dale Vestal says the incident is getting plenty of attention, but the investigation is still not getting enough.

The local DA finally decides to file charges against the thug who did the beating.
                    "charged with misdemeanor battery"

Not sure what took so long.
The kid is clearly violent and committed a crime.
