  • BU Chicago Tip-Off Luncheon Nov. 4th at Harry Caray's in Chicago

Chicago area fans note the Chicago Tip-Off Lucheon is scheduled November 4th at Harry Caray's Restaurant in Chicago--
PEORIA, Ill. -- Two popular Bradley Basketball events are looming on the November calendar and the Bradley Athletics Ticket Office is collecting reservations for a quartet of men's and women's basketball bus trips, two items of note as the countdown to the start of the 2008-09 basketball season continues.

    From BUBrvaes.com--
The popular Bradley Basketball Chicago Tip-Off Luncheon makes its return to the Bradley Basketball preseason schedule Nov. 4 when head coaches Jim Les and Paula Buscher will be the featured speakers at Harry Caray’s Italian Steakhouse and Bar in downtown Chicago (33 West Kinzie Street). Bradley Basketball boosters will take over the second floor of the popular downtown establishment when the doors open for a cocktails reception at 11:30 a.m., followed by a noon lunch Nov. 4 at Harry Caray’s. Veteran radio play-by-play talent Dave Snell will serve as the emcee and both head coaches will address the gathering as they close in on the start of the 2008-09 season. Tickets for the Bradley Basketball Chicago Tip-Off Luncheon are $40 and may be purchased in advance by contacting the Bradley Braves Club Office at (309) 677-2667. Bradley Alumni also may register for the luncheon online through the Bradley University Alumni Association website

There are quite a few of our regular posters who work in downtown Chicago every day.
If you want to go to this event, get your registrations in early, as it has always been a sellout in recent years.

I highly recommend attending. Dutchy Caray is always there, as is Pete Vonachen. Last year's was cancelled, but two years ago Comcast SportsNet's Josh Mora was there doing a small piece on the Braves. Unfortunately I will not be there this year.
        Onward and Upward!

I don't know what constitutes a sellout. If I can find the answer, I'll post it. You could email Ken Kavanagh if you need to know how many spots are left.

I just got back from the Luncheon a bit ago. There was a pretty good crowd there, I'd say about 100 or so. Dave Snell emceed (sp?) the event and made some opening remarks and talked about the new recruits and especially the Olly-Oop dunk that Chris Roberts threw down last night, and then Ken Kavanagh and President Glassar spoke. They all discussed the new developments on campus and all the speakers throughout the day urged the crowd to come see the campus and see all the improvements that have been made.

Coach Busher spoke first. She talked about how playing at ICC was still a home-court advantage but people needed to travel out there and see the team play. She specifically mentioned that Michelle Lund may be the best guard to play for her at BU and that she was expecting a lot from Skye Johnson.

Then Coach Les got up and spoke. He didn't single out any players specifically but said that he liked a lot of what he saw last night. He also praised the new facilities at length and how they would help with recruiting.

I'm sure there was some other stuff that I forgot so if anyone has any questions lemme know.
