Man some of you guys are sensitive. I read the article put it down and went along with my day.
I didn't think about it, I didn't try to analyze every line and see where KW was a BU or JL hater.
He writes what he thinks and that's ok. If you disagree then that's ok too.
I really don't see what all the fuss is about in this article.
Have we ever thought we were going to have MVC championship type team and been dissappointed? Of course...
I thought much of what he wrote was fairly accurate but I wasn't looking for anything really either.

**** it Lefty, don't say this. My butt is on the line here!
There is no team in the the MVC that can match up to us the whole game, if our bigs come to play! BU will win the the MVC this year!
I don't think you missed anything B4L. The article seems pretty straight forward to me. There might be a poor choice of words like "rare".. but I thought it was mostly on the money.
Was it negative? I sure didn't take it that way. Did he call Les a liar as posted here? That tought never entered my mind until it was posted here.
It seems like some posters here have it in for the columnist just as they accuse him of having it in for Les & the Braves.
And who cares if he ever writes a positive column? Most of you apparently think he is an ***** and has no clue what he is talking about. So if he writes a positive column does that mean he's wrong about that too?
Lighten up guys, it was only an editorial.. written to remind you not to take everything at face value. It was not groundbreaking.. but also was not some guy sitting on a grassy knoll taking shots at Les and the team.
I agree with you and B4L. I to did not see the negative in what he wrote nor did I try to reed something negative into it. I thought it was pretty much what I thought it would be.
This last summer I broke from work and went to Donavon to play. Being by myself I soon caught up with a single in front of me. Yes, KW! I had never meet the guy before and we played the rest of the way together. Talked about a lot of things. I never told him I was a die heart BU fan but did talk about BU basketball. Never hear any negative out of him about the program, coach's or BU in general. Had a good time. But he does need to improve on his game as I put it on him and thats bad.
I to have been critical of him at times but if he wrote everything was perfect and positive, I would have to call him a liar!

Nobody has said KW has to say everything perfect and positive, but at least let the team start practicing before he starts his annual negative reporting about Coach Les and the program.

Sorry, have read it and re-read it. I don't see anywhere KW is really negative about anything. I am very interested to see how the new guys fit in and who will contribute. IMO it is very difficult for new guys to be successful right off the bat, not unheard of, but difficult. I agree with what JL has said, if we get the inside presence, we will be a very good team. For KW to say BU may struggle with this many new guys is not that negative, kind of stating the obvious, but not negative! JM2cents!
Some see a hopeless end, while others see an endless hope.
I am sick and tired of hearing about Joe the ***** plumber.
Bradley 72 - Illini 68 Final
???It??™s awful hard,??™??™ said Illini freshman guard D.J. Richardson, the former Central High School guard who played prep school ball a few miles from here and fought back tears outside the locker room. ???It??™s a hometown thing. It??™s bragging rights.??™

Reading the article after all of the debate back and forth actually trying to view this article with what some appear to think is contempt is difficult.
Wessler just simply tries to express that there is a core veteran group that he express makes him feel better about this team then last season. He is not wrong in saying that Juco's and Freshman rarely can be relied upon to give significate contributions and uses Warren as that example and Wilson as the otherwise.
I think he is a little lacking in not talking about one significate thing... players generally either Juco or Freshman make their biggest gains between the first and second season.
That means in the case of SM, Wilson, DC and Egolf all should move forward in their development, that also should include that this staff is now together for a full second year and their development should also be much more significate then last season.
I really think the X factors are how quickly Thompson adjusts, how improved and confident Egolf has become, what the influence of DD has on the development and focus of Roberts and if DC developed confidence and is more aggresive.
I believe we have excellent leadership at the one, two and three and honestly believe there is not a team in this conference who is better equiped at those 3 areas but its how much we have grown and matured at the 4 and 5 that will separate this team. The biggest advantage from last season is depth at those two areas, that type of daily competition will be so important in the overall development of this team.
