I can"t believe anyone is concerned about an article KW wrote and Dave Reynolds is the one that should be giving us progress reports on practice each day.

One Mike Nadel is enough for any newspaper. But what do you expect from the local rag. Look at the rest of the columnist they have.

Egolf didn't give us much but he has some potential and we all hope it comes to fruition THIS year...just what KW said....

Thompson is an unknown, appears to have potential....just what KW said.

Wilson and Sam excelled...just what KW said.

Scott and Austin were busts...just what KW said.

We SEEM to have some decent newbies but in Dunson and Roberts but of those two ONLY Dunson has D1 experience and is as close to a sure thing as you can get for a newbie...basically what KW said.

Collins started out OK....fizzled bigtime but showed some signs of life real late. Just like Egolf we will have to see if he figured it out....basically what KW said.

Three freshman are three freshman....you NEVER count on freshman and if they do contribute like SM you feel blessed and lucky.

From what I read KW nailed it. But wether he did or didn't nail it it doesn't matter becuase I don't need his article to tell me what I allready knew. I think his articles are for the casual fan and not the more "educated" fans like most of US are.

            Dogs,

I agree that the article said what most fans I talk to on a regular basis see. Most would also say that when you have so many new players it takes a while for the team to gel and the coaching staff to figure out where and when to use everyone. I think this is why DR made the statement about too many Jucos. I have no problem with Jucos to fill holes, I just think more 4 year players leave the team with less holes to fill.

Soon the season will start and all of the speculation will end.......oops wrong!!!

I read all of Ts arguments about the virgins form last years team, in my opinion none of that matters. What matters is reults. We will see soon.

I think that BU is improving the talent level. As I have said many times, the defense, rebounding and intensity needs to improve also.

It may not be news, per se, but it does tackle an issue that is a major difference between last year's team and this year's team -- experience. On that note, I think it's something that is certainly worth discussing. I don't see any harm in that.

--One redshirted, so of course he didn't contribute his first year, redshirts generally don't, but he (Anthony Thompson) is a great prospect for the next four years, so is he one of the guys we shoulda passed on??

--One is a decent backup center who showed signs of contributing substantially at the end of last season (Collins) and who might just be a starter this year. And another has made HUGE strides and is mentioned as the most improved for this season (Will Egolf) and has tons of potential. So maybe those are the ones we should have passed on?? Doubt it...

--then there were two guys, we picked up late with unexepectedly open/available scholarships (Austin & Cole-Scott). Both had promise but fizzled out, and are already gone, and gone in time for us to use those scholarships again and get a couple of fine players whose dads both played in the NBA and at least one of them was hotly pursued by 40-50 BCS schools!

So in the end, 5 of the 7 D-I "virgins", or the "too many jucos" as DR called them, turned out not only fine but very fine.
And only two have been proven busts so far (2 out of 7...not too bad), but as fortunes occurred, we turned those two scholarships into something almost undreamed of....
so wasn't it actually pretty darned fortunate that we DID have those scholarships available??
Those are all fine arguments, but when did anyone say we should've passed on any of those players?

It took KW exactly one sentence to call JL a liar.

He says Wilson had a good season, but only because he was good before he got to BU, therefore giving the coaches no credit.

Looks like another year of KW hate.

What we have here is a little grudge between new media and old media.

Real Fan said basically what do we care about KW's article. DRU also said educated fans (like here at bradleyFans.com) already know what KW said.

So educated fans here at BradleyFans.com are ahead of the curve. We don't care for KW's opinion. And then his opinion gets nit-picked and then the comments get nit-picked.

Typical "Nit-pick and Gotchya" of today.

Bottom line - KW and his ilk are slipping into an abyss.

2008 will be remembered as the year journalism died.

(here is the moment Scouter will *sigh* - go ahead bro, *sigh*... they are just words, just speeches)

I don't think journalism will die, it is just going to change from a print media to an electronic media. As much as many on here do not like the articles of KW and DR because they are not always positive, many people in the area read them and will continue to do so. This does not mean that they are always correct. Many posters on here are just as knowledgeable about basketball and some more than the sports writers. They are sports writers, not basketball experts! I venture to say if KW and DR only wrote positive stuff regardless of the facts, they would be out of journalism much faster than some here would like. Any writer covering any team whose fan base is passionate, will anger some of the fans, some of the time.

All BU has to do to get more positive articles written by the PJS writers is to get better results. I wonder what they would write if BU won the conference or won the Valley tournament. As we are all BU fans lets hope we get to see it soon.

When was the last time KW wrote a positive article without some kind of dig? I will not read his article because I feel his writing has established a bias towards BU because of some deep insecurity issue he has. DR on the other hand tends to write fair articles that have journalistic integrity and true research.

It also seems that most of us take the same side of these issues and it is really starting to get boring this time of the year. T is very protective of the program and on the other side is LakeView, extremey antagonistic. I can't wait until our play dictates what really is.

BTW I believe KW is jealous of JL and probably feels he can do his job better then him.

I'm a little late to the game but I just read the article and really have no problem with it. Maybe it's just too late and I'm tired and missed something.
